A Birthday to Myself - Finding a Little Place of Peace in the Bustling Metropolis

There comes an age in one's life when parties aren't really what makes a birthday special, and I'd had enough of the blues every time this day rolls by, so what better to do than to take a 3-day off from work and just breath.

Not having the energy to plan an out-of-town, I did a quick search online for a cozy 'lil spot that can be found just in the Metro and lo and behold, this Cocoon Boutique Hotel fit all the criteria I was hoping for. Thinking that location-wise was already perfect for me, it was also an added pleasant surprise to have the staff even prepare a birthday greeting in my room! To say I had a restful sleep amidst those downy pillows would be an understatement.

The only downside to the hotel would be that their kitchen only offered breakfast, though it wasn't much to be displeased with as their location was surrounded by several cozy looking lounges, first of which was SuperSam. Conveniently placed just across from the hotel, one needs to find a seat here as early as 7PM as it actually gets full despite the weekday, even without the weekender gigs and serenade.

Trying the Crab Roe Pasta for my main course didn't exactly suit my palate, thankfully the rich Potato Soup that I first had was satisfyingly fullfilling, partnered with the Calamari, it was absolutely perfect! And of course I wasn't one not to top the night off with their zesty, alcoholic concoction of the Blueberry Smash, overall a wonderful dinner on my first night away.
