Cycling Adventures: Exploring the Scenic Trails of Lake Iseo
Hello, traveler friends,
Today, I had a day off work, and I had planned to go for a bike ride. By now, you've probably noticed that I'm really into cycling, a passion I've had since I was a kid. Unfortunately, where I live in Milan, it seems like winter is back. This morning, it was seven degrees, a truly unusual temperature for this time of year, so I had to postpone my ride, especially because I wasn't in the mood to get caught in the rain.
So today, I wasn't sure what to share with you, because I had planned a bike ride and was going to share some photos from that trip. But as I was looking through the few posts I’ve shared here, I realized that I forgot to share a beautiful ride I took a few weeks ago, when the temperatures were almost hitting 25 degrees at Lake Iseo.
I don't remember if I've already talked to you about this stunning lake, which might not be as well-known as Lake Garda, but is still beautiful, especially for those who love trekking and cycling.
I went on a 60-kilometer ride, and I remember it being quite physically challenging because I wasn't super fit. But thanks to some energy drinks, I made it to the end of my route.
What definitely struck me the most were the landscapes I was able to admire. I took this ride with my friend Silvia, who had been in this area before and knew the way. I must say that the route is very scenic because you can admire the beautiful lake from above.
Also, the route is partly made up of cobblestone roads, which can be a bit uncomfortable if you don't have a well-cushioned bike. Luckily, I was a bit prepared, so I didn't have too many problems.
What surprised me is that all of a sudden, you find yourself surrounded by groups of old houses, but you also have the chance to find numerous fountains along the way, which is a great thing, especially to refill your water bottle.
It's a very naturalistic route, so you definitely need a mountain bike or at least an off-road bike, because you can't ride this track with a racing bike or a thin-wheeled bike—you’d risk getting a flat tire.
And that's what happened to me along the way. I probably hit a sharp rock at one point, which bent my inner tube. But fortunately, I was well-equipped, and after a quick replacement, I was back on track.
I really enjoy these nature trails because they're much more relaxing, and they give you a chance to see these natural places without causing any damage, as you're using a sustainable mode of transport that doesn't pollute.
I hope you enjoyed the photos I shared. If you get the chance, there are several very interesting routes along Lake Iseo. What you see here is just a portion of the many paths you can find there!
See you on my next biking adventure! Take care!
