PhotoFeed Contest - Wildlife Photography Round 143: Garden Lizard

Garden Lizard

This wildlife often appears in plantations, hence the name garden lizard. This photo, featuring two garden lizards seemingly mating, was also taken in a small garden in my backyard. Garden lizards are carnivorous, typically feeding on small insects. Similar to geckos, garden lizards can detach their tails when threatened, a process known as autotomy. This is done to deceive predators. The severed tail of a garden lizard will continue to move to distract predators, allowing the lizard to escape.
