Red Flies

Red flies, that's what people call them where I live. Besides making a loud noise, this type of fly is also believed to have something on its outer body that causes itching. Red flies also often gather in groups when they land in one place. I took this photo of a red fly this morning when I was watering the plants in the small garden behind my house.

This type of fly is detrimental to plant health because it inhibits the leaf greening process. In short, red flies are plant pests.
