TODAY I will like to talk about some of the beautiful and interesting trees that have been for years.

BAOBAB TREE

BAOBAB TREE Is located in Madagascar, Mainland, Africa and Australia.The Baobab trees is also known as the upside down tree. It is huge, beautiful and very magnificent. The trees are about 100feet tall and 35feet wide. They can store upto 32,000 gallons of water in their trunk.

The baobabs have broad trunks and compact crowns. The young tree have slender, tapering trunks and often with a swollen base, while the mature trees have massive trunks that are bottled shape or cylinderical and tapered from bottom to top.

The leaves of Baobabs tree are palmately compound in mature tree, but the seedlings and regenerating shoot may have simple roots. The leaves have 5 - 11 leaflet, with the largest one in the middle. Although the transition to compound leaves comes with age and is gradual.

The fruit of the Baobab trees is one of the distinguish feature. It is large, oval-to-round, and berry-like in most species (Usually less than 10 centimeters (3.9in). It has a hard and dry outer shell of variable thickness.

The white pitch in the fruit of baobab tree taste like sherbet . It has an acidic, tart, citrus flavour, and it is also a good source of vitamin c, potassium, carbohydrates, and phosphorus.

The baobab fruit dried powder contains of 11% of water, 80% carbohydrates, 50% fibre, and modest level of other nutrients like, riboflavin, calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron and phytosterol, with low level of protein and fat.

In some countries like Zimbabwe, Angola, Tanzania, the fruit of a Baobab is Eaten fresh. While it can also be boiled and the broth is used in juice, or as a base for ice cream. It can also be to sugar cane to aid fermentation.

The fruit of a Baobab tree are also source of fibre, dye and fuel. The baobab oil from the tree is used for cosmetics particularly in moisturizers.

Hey how is this tree? I have seen such a tree for the first time. The one in the middle is looking like a fruit. Papaya fruit looks like the same in our India.
