Women in Art
It’s always nice to see women in art, watching ladies use their hands to create things is so amazing, and honing their skills as they keep going is something that is worthy of admiration.
From women’s ceaseless effort, they have been able to excel in various fields of art and so many women have made history with their art, the world celebrates these women today but taking a look at their early days would humble you and make you appreciate and respect them more. The time, effort, dedication, and years of trials and errors are next to none but they did it anyway.
I remember a very young me trying to be an artist because of how cool people who drew and painted looked but I just couldn’t get past the strokes and curves and I gave up after so many trials and errors.
Time and distance always have a way of keeping families and friends away from each other but for the first time in two years, I was able to see my Aunt yesterday. The last time I saw her was when she was sick, she was so sick to the point that we all were scared for her life, and as a result of that she had to pause everything concerning art and we saw how sad it was for her to make this decision.
Flashback to now, she’s hale and hearty and back in the game again, she’s killing it and it’s been one jolly ride for her.
I went to her house yesterday and I saw a few of her pieces which she used to decorate her house and the ones in her mini studio. I was so proud of her as she returned like she never left😃
The amount of time she dedicates to this skill of hers is amazing and of course, money is not exempted from the equation as she spends a lot of money in producing these ceramics and according to her each piece is her “baby”.
She informed me she was going to have an exhibition soon and I was so proud of her, part of why I was proud of her was because I knew how it all started, (and that’s a story for another day)and seeing her get to this point in her career was really inspiring and a testament that everything is possible as long as you put your mind to it.
She’s been working tirelessly for her exhibition. She has a handful of pieces that I couldn’t take pictures of because of the forthcoming exhibition, we all are rooting for her as we know she is going to kill it.
Holding each piece in admiration and listening to the backstory of each piece as she recounted it was so nice, and it still surprises me how those funny yet beautiful stories of hers birthed these amazing pieces. In that moment, I felt the power behind Art and each piece immediately had a meaning and I began to look at each piece differently as each of them meant different things to my Aunt.
She’s not where she wants to be yet but heck! She’s way better than what she was before and to her and everyone in the family, it’s everything and we all are happy and proud of her😃
I can’t wait to see the different pieces she gets to display at the exhibition and I also can’t wait to see how the audience gets captivated by the beautiful stories behind each of them. That’s one hell of an experience I wouldn’t want to miss for anything and just maybe I would be able to share some of the stories with you all here as well.

I admire how artists put up their work to tell a story or keep the memory of an important period or event. What spectators see are ordinary art works, but to the artist, they're beyond ordinary. Your aunt is good at what she does. These artworks are beautiful and captivating. I wish her greater heights in her chosen line. This is inspiring.

Wow! She’s really good
The pieces are beautiful and I know I would take as many as possible home if I were to come for that exhibition
She might not be where she wants to be yet but with this hardwork and determination I know she will
