A Walk Around a Refinery
A few days ago, I visited one of the largest oil palm production refineries in my city. This company is known for the cultivation, processing, and production of oil palm. It’s located on the outskirts of my city.

I was thrilled to visit this company, as I wasn’t only mesmerized by the magnificent view but I also learnt a lot about oil production and environmental sustainability.

I didn't know the refinery was this large until I walked around it, and I was blown away. The farther I went, the more my eyes widened in excitement.

I got to see the nursery and the plantation. Here the seedlings are nursed before they are taken to the plantation for planting. I have never seen a plantation as big as the one I saw here, and I was privileged to walk around it. Staring at this plantation that spans so many hectares is proof of constant hard work, dedication, and growth.

I also got to see the storage tanks for raw and refined products.

I was also privileged to learn more about the company’s operations, and I was impressed by their no-waste policy, as all by-products are converted into valuable materials.

Going through several gigantic machines, I couldn’t help but appreciate what this company is doing in my city. They are not just cultivating and refining oil palm but also empowering, developing and shaping my country’s economy.

All the machines here work collectively to get the work done, which is cultivating, processing, and packaging refined oil palm and other derivatives.

I got to see the deodorizer at the refinery, a final step in the oil palm production. The deodorizer helps to remove the bad smell, taste, and impurities of the palm oil. This stage is done with caution to prevent the oil from damaging.

I got to see the tank farm, the mill, sterilizers, fertilizer spreaders and all the amazing machines that help perform the magic in the refinery.

During my walk, I also saw people from different backgrounds, this company does not only employ engineers and farmers like I have always thought. They employ laboratory scientists, mill operators, development managers, business strategist and a lot more.

This was a beautiful experience, and I was glad to have visited such a wonderful place in my city. I took a lot of pictures because everything in this refinery was mindblowing. All I could think about as I walked around was just how much was put into establishing everything and how much revenue was generated monthly. I bet even if I was told, my brain wouldn’t be able to do the numbers, hehehehe.

It was truly a memorable day for me and I don’t mind visiting again😃

Have you ever been to a refinery before? Did you enjoy your visit? Would you love to visit again? I’d love to read your thoughts in the comment section.

This is massive, no doubt you had such a great experience at the refinery, I haven't visited such establishment before and I would love to if I have the chance.
I have walked passed several refineries but haven't entered. Someday I might visit one. I love how neat the machines look
