Hello community, family and lovers of ceramics in Hive Diy greetings 😊. Today I will show you a fascinating exhibition at the Azagaya Gallery of the Provincial Committee of the UNEAC, the sculptural exhibition "Late for not believing it" by Luis Enrique Milán Boza, artist from my hometown Ciego de Ávila.

It is a room composed of six large-format pieces that, beyond being representations of his personal imaginary, are symbols taken from various religions, Buddhist beliefs, Afro-Cuban cultures and philosophical schools.

The sculptor and architect is a perfectionist with the finish of each piece and does not finish until he is convinced that he has given his all, using resin and clay as support materials.

In most of his pieces, he seems to tell us, from his art, that Christ, Eleggua, Buddha and Medusa do exist.

Eleguá ( Cauri Elegua)

Upon entering we are greeted by a sculpture, a personal and neat representation of Eleggúa, oricha (deity venerated in the Cuban island of the Yoruba pantheon), owner of all roads and protector of homes. It also gives the oricha dissimilar eyes (cauris), which makes us reflect on religious fanaticism.

Beard of Zeus

It shows us a mutation to the face with tuft of hair or beard of zeus very creative, desacralization of the divine.

The rays in Christ

The deconstruction of an icon, the reiteration of essential elements that question the subjectivity of the individual, where Christ is seen mutilated by rays on his face, as well as his interest in making physical the interaction of man with his space through the three-dimensionality that sculpture allows.

Virus in Buda

It overflows and appropriates the preexisting iconographic program, as if It was a virus that mutates and destroys the consensus, the dogma, the spiritual algorithm.

Fat Buddha

This other melted or deflated Buddha, a recurring figure in Chinese Buddhist iconography, is one of those examples, which lets us see an ungraceful face, less sacred and divine. The temple loses its pillars, the structure that supports it, and with it, faith is extinguished as we admire the figure of a fat man full of love handles.

"Medusa, without the fear of being able to look at him to the eyes"

Female chthonic monster, capable of turning anyone who stares at her eyes into stone, a case that will not happen in this work as you can appreciate all the art with your own eyes as spectacular, it was my favorite 😍.

It also has an exhibition of paintings in watercolor drawings that also recreate the sculptural representation in the room, all related to the works exhibited, interesting and taken to a peculiar context of the sculptures.

The drawings are part of the work process he uses in his research to later arrive at the final sculpture. "They are not sketches," the creator tells us. "They are formal inquiries. With them the work process begins, on the paper flow the ideas that determine the path to follow to make the sculptures".

The public of Avila will be able to visit Luis Enrique's philosophical and materialistic exhibition for a whole month and hopefully his sculptures will continue to dialogue, forever, from the halls in all the museums of the world. I am one of those who believe that it is not too late to believe it.
