Parents are here!!!

My parents arrived on Monday, but due to my youngest son was having minor bowel obstruction, he and myself were practically staying at home and could not join them whenever they went out with my other siblings.

Today, finally my son started eating after being tube-fed for 5 days. We are glad that we can leave the house now to join them for dining out. Our last day of joining them since my parents will be flying back to hometown tomorrow.

There is a small restaurant in the neighbourhood we had not been going for awhile, so we decided to pay a visit. It is called BAJ Cafe! It had been here since I was in college. Their business was good all the while, and became better after renovation, now with proper air-conditioning.

B.A.J Cafe

Location: Jalan Genting Kelang, 20, Jalan Prima Setapak 3, Taman Setapak, 53300 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur

It was always crowded due to delicious food at a super reasonable price. I love the simple decoration inside, and proper tables and chairs. The downside is it can be really noisy, and definitely not a suitable place if you want to meet up for busienss discussion or to close a deal. However, it is suitable for family and friend eating, or even solo speed eating during lunch break.

The Food We Ordered

It has a wide selection of food from pasta to rice and even finger food. And a variety of drink and dessert drinks too.

1. Bak Kut Teh Soup

I used to come here for 'Bak Kut Teh', direct translation means meat-bone-tea where pork meat and pork bones are boiled in a herbs-infused soup till super aromatic and flavourful. The herbal soup is good for you when you are feeling tired and exhausted. I was tired, and in need of a warm 'bak kut teh' soup. So, I ordered this, my father ordered the same too. It came with some vegetables, bean curd and enoki mushroom. The whole pot had a good amount of pork belly, lean meat and one pork rib. I added one rice because I am a rice-gurl and BKT must must must be eaten rice according to my preference. 🤣 Super yummy! Slurping satisfaction!

(I was still in disbelief that I did not take photo of my BKT but I took everyone else's food, lol... what duh...)

Carbonara pasta series

My sons and my niece ordered the carbonara pasta series. My youngest son ordered a plain carbonara pasta with no 'topping'. The topping was fried chicken chop with different types of sauce toppings. My eldest son chose the carbonara with plain chicken chop (meaning no special topping), my niece ordered carbonara with salted egg sauce chicken chop. All of them said the pastas were delicious, even the fried chicken chips were super yummy.

Bolognese Pasta

My another niece ordered a bolognese pasta with carbonara chicken chop, meaning the chicken chop came with carbonara sauce topping. It was a very special meal, although in the end, my niece could not eat because it was quite pepperish to her liking. In the end, she shared with my youngest son his plain carbonara. Still happy dining!

Bacon aglio olio

My brother ordered this dish but in the end decided to pack back this one because the pasta dishes they ordered were sufficient for his two daughters and himself and his wife. So, not sure how did it taste like but it definitely looked good.

Braised minced pork rice

My brother's mother-in-law ordered this for herself, I remembered eating this too some years back and I knew it was a delicious dish. It tasted like the Taiwanese braised pork rice, fragrant and flavourful.

Chicken Chop Rice

My mother ordered this and she gave 10/10 for this. It came with fluffy delicious rice (yes, she actually commented that the rice was good on its own), a fried egg, fries, salad and a piece of chicken chop. All the chicken chops were perfectly fried, inside still juicy and not dry, nice bite. Definitely a great choice for my mum. She loved it.

All of us were very satisfied with our meals, and had even decided to come here soon, maybe after Sunday's church. Really loved the good food at good price. We were seating at a corner with beautiful motivational phrase. So happened, my parents were sitting right in front, so I took a photo of them with the words...
