My Parents' 28th Wedding Anniversary

I wonder how come the people of the generation preceding us are so loyal and so committed? How come they don't get tired of seeing the same face over decades. How do they not get bored of each other? Sometimes when you think of it, it's truly remarkable and jaw-dropping to see old couples still in masly love with each other even after 20 years. One such example is of my parents

This generation has everything temporary in it. Temporary and fake. The feelings, the people,the emotions, the love, everything. I have come to a realization that today, money matters more than anything else. Friendships are based upon materialistic needs. Love has its conditions. Relationships are like seasons.

Sometimes I wish we all had what this old generation has. The purest form of love. I'm not saying we are overall worse than them but in this niche we're definitely not up to the par.

MY PARENTS 28TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

Recently we celebrated the 28th anniversary of our parents. Every year we try to make it more special than the last one. But, unarguably, the best one that we had was the 25th wedding anniversary, the silver jubilee. We celebrated it at one of the best hill stations in the world, Abha.

This time, it was special as well as the whole family was together. It rarely happens these days as my eldest brother works offshore. He's a doctor in the UK. Anyway we decided to throw a party at our parents favorite restaurant. Its known as the Kebabjees restaurant which is located at the main highway.

Winter is here. It's already colder than usual in Karachi and under the cold sky it felt even colder. We ordered our father's favorite dishes which included mutton chops, mutton karahi, chicken karahi and seekh kebabs. The waiters were pre instructed by my brothers to bring forth the anniversary cake right after the dinner. It was beautiful.

They loved the surprise but little did they know the best is still waiting for them. As I mentioned earlier that family ties are really important for our family, we had pre-planned a beach party which included all our aunts and uncles as well. Since the beach program was early in the morning the next day, we left the restaurant before it got too late.

BEACH PARTY

My brother had booked a mini bus for the trip as traveling together would have been a much more fun trip compared to travelling separately. It was a 3 hour journey to the beach. The beach was located in the neighboring province, Balochistan. We had to cross a couple of checkpoints in order to reach there.

Since it's winters and it was early in the morning, the beach was empty. There was literally not a single person at the beach. Not a single family. The hut owners there might have thought that we're crazy to visit the beach in such cold and harsh conditions. Anyway, this situation helped us in getting a hut in much cheaper prices than the usual.

No one was brave enough to go in the water except for my cousin and I. It was truly an experience to remember. The cold water felt like thousand needles going through my body. As if someone was torturing me. But still it felt good. It felt as if all the troubles of the world had disappeared for a moment but after a few seconds my body couldn't take anymore and I had to run back to the shore.

A day to remember honestly, our whole family out there without any unnecessary intervention of strangers. Playing games out there, horse riding, cricket, barbeque and whatnot.

We reached there around 11 am. I sat with the elders of the family for a bit. I don't prefer to talk with people who have nothing to offer but gossip. I mean, if your circle includes people who still talk about girls, parties and stuff like this and not about business oppurtunities, property dealing, money etc, you need to change your company asap.

Anyway, I was sitting with my uncle who deals in property. He gave ne an offer of a plot that he has bought recently, he's offering me 25% of the sales.

We had a cricket session after that. The most amazing thing in this was that everyone wanted to play. We had such an amazing family time at the beach. Barefooted on the soil, fielding as if my life depends on it. After that another gane qas played in which all of us stood in a circle and the game was to check yhe reflexes of the person next un line. We had to pretend that we're throwing the ball only to check the reflexes of the other person. I hope you're getting what I mean. 😂😂

Overall, it was the most memorable day of the year. My parents honestly loved the event and this surprise. They were in tears. The relatives loved it and we had a family day to remember. Here are some shots from the beach party:
