Long Exposure On A Calm Ocean Night

Normally long exposure is nearly impossible from a sailboat, because there’s always motion from waves. However this night it was so calm, I figured I could give it a try.
I was only using a IPhone, so I didn’t expect much, and it’s rather limited in its exposure time. However I ended up rather surprised!

This was just leaving the phone flat looking up at the mast, and just I was hoping it would just pick up more stars with the limited exposure time. However just then a small breeze picked up, and the boat swung just enough to create the spin, but if you look closely you can see a slight waviness to the stars due to the boat rocking a bit.

Most of the other pictures were less impressive, or didn’t turn out, but this one of the horizon was not bad. This is looking at the constellation of Orion, which you can see Orion’s Belt just above the cloud.

The rest like this all kinda got blurred after the breeze picked up, but it was all worth it for the first picture.
