On June 9th, the Rialto Bridge (VENICE) celebrates its birthday!!
Hello friends of this beautiful community.
Today, I also want to share a post about an important event that took place on June 9th, 1588, in Venice. On this date, the foundation stone for the construction of the Rialto Bridge, one of the symbols of Venice worldwide, was laid. It is one of the most photographed tourist attractions in Venice by visitors from all over the world. This bridge is located on the Grand Canal and connects the districts of San Marco and San Polo. I mentioned it a few months ago in a video on my channel, which I will leave below for you.
👉
The bridge we see today was built in stone, but in the past, it was originally constructed in wood. However, due to the weight of the goods and people crossing it, the bridge collapsed several times. Furthermore, it was subject to numerous fires that destroyed it.

Faced with such recurring problems, the decision was made to reconstruct the bridge using stone as the main material. It was also decided to create a raised arch section to allow the passage of boats. This significant renovation took three years of work and was the work of the architect Antonio da Ponte.
While strolling along the sides of the Rialto Bridge, one is enchanted by the lively atmosphere created by the various shops and stalls surrounding it. It is important to be aware that, unfortunately, this area is known for frequent wallet thefts in Venice. This phenomenon is mainly due to the enormous influx of tourists who gather here to take a photo in this symbolic place of Venice. However, if you follow my advice and watch the video, you will discover a hidden secret. I suggest you climb to the terrace next to the bridge, an experience that offers you a breathtaking view of the majestic Grand Canal. And the best part is that you can enjoy it without spending a penny! Don't miss this extraordinary opportunity to admire a unique perspective of the city.

From my perspective, this bridge is considered one of the most beautiful bridges in Venice, certainly the most picturesque and the most photographed. However, beware of thefts. Unfortunately, due to the excessive influx of people, these unpleasant events occur here. I recommend visiting it during off-peak times when there are fewer people, making it much more enjoyable.
Some days of the week, at the foot of this beautiful bridge, there is also a local market where you can buy local products.
