A particular place on the hill near my house!

LINK POSITION

Hello dear friends of this community!

In this post, which I am going to share with you, I want to tell you about an excursion I made a few months ago, and which I had forgotten to share with you here, a place that is quite close to where I live. In fact, I wanted to make this discussion because I have been admiring this small religious chapel that is located on a hill near my home for quite some time, but I have never had the opportunity to go and see it up close and understand why it was built exactly in that place, and especially when it was built.
My curiosity always drives me to discover new places, and I am lucky that I am in Italy, a country very rich in these special places.

I had to move by car, because I left from the hamlet of Roncà, a tiny municipality of just 3500 inhabitants in the province of Verona, and from its hamlet called Terrossa, you can reach this chapel by a road that is paved in part and then becomes a concrete road, because the only people who have access to this road as far as I understand it are only farmers who have fields in this area.

Incidentally, after about a hundred metres I immediately realised that the road is totally uphill, with a steep and challenging gradient, but fortunately on the day I undertook this excursion the weather was very cool so I had no problem whatsoever climbing up this road.

After about an hour or so I arrived at the height of this small chapel, which looks neo-Gothic in style but in reality I realised that it was practically built after the Second World War in 1950, and as I understand it was built by the town's Alpini Association, to commemorate this corps of the Italian army where in these parts there are many people who have probably done their military service in this corps of the Italian army.

I took a few photos from this point, where you can absolutely admire the whole valley, although as you can see from the photos I was not particularly lucky because a few months ago there was a persistent fog in the area due to pollution, and I was also unlucky because I found this chapel completely closed and inaccessible, but I somehow managed to take a few photos of the interior, leaning against the door which is glazed.

Then coming back from the path that I had taken, I noticed on the sides of the road that the soil of these vineyards is completely red, and I understood why this place is called this way, because you have to know that under these small hills there are volcanoes that fortunately are no longer active, but they have given this colouring to the soil, in fact here the cultivation is very particular because it takes place in these volcanic soils that give a particular flavour to the wine that is produced in these areas.

As usual, I hope I have made you discover a new place in Italy, and above all an interesting place, sometimes we have some unique places right next to home and we don't realise it, see you in my next post and I wish you all a good day!

The way moves to the church is nice. The church is located in a quiet place. 😍
