Trefin, Pembrokeshire, Wales - day 1 of our easter vacation
We are lucky enough to be back on vacation for a week ! We drove 8 hours through friday bank holiday traffic from Edinburgh, to get to the small village of Trefin, in Pembrokeshire, South West Wales.
The drive was pretty rubbish - but the village is stunning ! Even though my wife is Welsh, we've never been in this corner of Wales before.
Its quite a small village, with one main long street. The pic above is the old village church, with the sun going down behind it ! Its quite a typical old Welsh village - the buildings are quite beautiful and quaint.
I absolutely love their old street lights !
The house above is our home for the next week - a lovely old holiday rental. Its quite quaint and characteristic of an older Welsh house inside - with lots of lovely features that make it a lovely place to stay.
Right next to our holiday accommodation is this lovely community 'library' ! Its an old dis-used telephone box which has been turned into a book exchange. Its simple - you take a book you've read, put it in, and take out a different one that you'd like to read ! It even says you can just take one, if you dont have one to exchange. What a lovely little village feature !
Another big bonus is that the village pub, above, is about 300 yards down the road from where we are staying ! We've already popped in for a pint - and I'm pretty sure we'll be back again a few times during the week.
The village is right by the coast, and this road leads down to the coastal path, which we are really looking forward to exploring.
And just down that road is this lovely rope swing for the kids !
And these beautiful white flowered bushes were off to the side of the road on a wee track. I'm not quite sure what they are - I think some kind of berry bush like a sloe or damson, or something like that maybe ?
Anyway, we are very happy to be back on vacation, and are looking forward to exploring this section of Wales over the coming week - cant wait !!!
Above is the only pic I took during the drive down. It was quite a beautiful day in the Scottish Borders when we were passing through !

When I was at college in South Wales, the first house I stayed in had an outside loo, also the first time I took way too many mushrooms...
The roman centurians marching down and off the concrete walls to stab my feet while on the loo were bloody murder!

Eight hours isn't that bad considering the distance and driving down on Easter Friday. I was on the M5 for just two junctions that day, and the traffic on the opposite direction going down to Cornwall was chocabloc
