Window-shopping for Creatives

One of the many things I love about this place is that it gets me to meet all these wonderful, inspiring people, who seed ideas into my head, and move me to chase beauty. A conversation the other day with my lovely friend @millycf1976 inspired me to go cloud-gazing. I've been neck-deep in preparations for the book launch, on top of the move, and much of my day has become... mechanic.

I realized I'd begun shifting into auto-pilot, measuring some of my art in terms of what I can use for marketing. It's an entire thing. My drawing, for instance, has been a little hijacked of late, as I've been drawing each of my characters to put on social media. It's great fun, but it's also easy to slip into a mentality of "Okay, I've only got this much to draw, I'd better do something productive, rather than doodle". And I love to doodle.

Same with photography. So Saturday night, I'd come home from shopping homeware, and was intending to hit the pool to get in a few laps, but when I saw the sky, and inspired by my conversation with Milly about clouds, I said fuck it, grabbed my camera, and set out.

I'm someone who loves looking at the sky, to the point of frequently tripping over myself when I walk.

This one above has got to be one of my favorite buildings in this city, and it's only a few streets from my house. It's so elegant, and tasteful. I think some lawyers own it now, and I'm glad they haven't modernized it. It would be a terrible shame.

Everyone says pink skies are beautiful...

Except for me.

And smell like blood on the horizon.

Or worse,

Feel like cotton-candy world

Which means you and I ain't real.

Not too keen on how this last moon shot turned out. Should've been clearer. I need a bigger zoom. Nevertheless, it was such a creative, fun evening. So I'm thankful for the results, whichever way they've come out.

Wow! I love the clarity of the clouds, and I dig the one with the birds. From I was a little girl, I always stopped to watch birds flying high over my head in a flock, no matter what I was doing or where I was going. It's one of the most beautiful things to me, and it's a great way to have a moment of pause.

I get what you mean about pink clouds. Maybe it's because pink is just not my colour 🤷‍♀

I still like the moon shot though, and the cat, what a lovely ending, indeed 😁

It really is. I wonder what they think, all the way up there, looking down.

Knew you'd appreciate the cat! :D For some reason, cats seem much more docile and willing to sit for a picture when I'm with the camera than when I have my phone. Wonder why...

Yes, cats always make me smile.
I haven't gone out with my camera in a long time. I need to clean and check the settings on it. The last time all my photos were out of focus, but I know it's from something I touched around the lens that I need to figure out.
Have a great week ahead too. It's a Bank Holiday here today and the sun is out a bit, but I have nothing planned other than cooking a herby pasta and olive oil and garlic. I've been craving it lately 😋
