Back in my university days, I had a friend named Julie, she was an extremely good cook who could whip up any delicacy in a very short time and with the most unbelievable ingredients. The plaque on this building states that this was the first "light of science in the new world", in other words, the first university founded in 1538 (but not formally recognized by royal decree until 1558)(). When I return from my long walks in the mountains west of Montalbán, I can easily choose to enter the town again through any of the streets whose ends connect with the dozens of paths and passages that lead to the bed of the small river that marks the end of the valley and the beginning of the ascent to the hills...
