A Peaceful Poya Day at the Japanese Peace Pagoda – Rumassala, Galle
Good evening to all my Hive friends.
Yesterday was a peaceful and meaningful day as my family and I visited the Japanese Peace Pagoda in Rumassala, Galle, to mark the Poya day. The visit was both spiritual and refreshing, offering us a chance to spend some quiet time together in one of the most beautiful places in the southern part of Sri Lanka.

The Japanese Peace Pagoda, proudly standing atop the Rumassala hill, is a shining symbol of serenity and harmony. Its radiant white dome gleams under the morning sun, spreading a sense of peace that touches the hearts of all who come to worship.
As we climbed to the top, the gentle sea breeze surrounded us, carrying with it the soothing rhythm of the waves below. The view of the ocean from the stupa was truly breathtaking — an endless stretch of deep blue where the horizon meets the sky, with distant ships gracefully sailing by.
From where I stood, I watched the sunset, painting the sky in shades of gold and crimson — a perfect, tranquil ending to a spiritually uplifting day

The surroundings of Rumassala are equally mesmerizing. The mountainous landscape covered in greenery gives the whole area a serene and natural charm. From the top, we could also see the famous Galle Fort and the coastline, which looked like a painting come to life. Birds sang softly in the trees, and everything around seemed to move at a peaceful pace, making it a perfect place for meditation and reflection.

Spending the Poya day at such a spiritual and scenic location reminded us of the value of inner peace and family togetherness. It was not just a visit but an experience that filled our hearts with calmness and gratitude. As we left the pagoda in the evening, the sun setting behind the sea created a golden glow — a perfect end to a beautiful and blessed day in Rumassala.
