A Memorable Visit to the Japanese Peace Pagoda and Museum in Rumassala

Good evening to all Hive friends.

Last Sunday was truly an unforgettable day. My family and I visited the Japanese Peace Pagoda in Rumassala, Galle, to celebrate the Poya Day. The surroundings were filled with serenity and spiritual energy. The shining white stupa, surrounded by the deep blue ocean and lush green hills, created a breathtaking view that instantly calmed our minds.

After spending some time in prayer and silent meditation at the stupa, we also visited the Japanese Museum located within the premises — something I couldn’t mention in my previous post. The museum offered a fascinating insight into the history and purpose behind the construction of the stupa. It showcased various artifacts, photographs, and information about the Japanese monks who contributed to building this sacred monument to promote global peace and harmony. The exhibitions beautifully reflected the deep bond between Japan and Sri Lanka, emphasizing the shared values of compassion, nonviolence, and unity.

Walking through the museum was a truly wonderful experience. It felt as though we were traveling through time, learning how the message of peace can transcend nations and generations. Unlike the Theravada Buddhism practiced in Sri Lanka, this place represented Mahayana Buddhism, offering a different yet deeply spiritual perspective.

The peaceful surroundings of the museum enhanced the sense of respect and learning, allowing us to absorb the calm atmosphere. We captured a few photos to remember those beautiful moments, although photography inside the museum itself was not permitted.

The site itself is located in a serene and scenic environment, filled with fascinating exhibits, Buddhist scriptures, and various artifacts related to the teachings of the Buddha. The combination of natural beauty and profound spiritual significance made this visit truly unforgettable.

As we left Rumassala, we felt a deep sense of enlightenment and contentment, carrying with us a renewed appreciation for the peace and tranquility that such sacred places bring into our lives.
Thank you reading
Have A nice day.
Best Regards,

Samadi Madushanki .
