A Beautiful Day by the Beach with the Charm of Stilt Fishing.
Good evening to all my Hive friends. Recently, I went to the beach with my two children, and it was truly an enlightening experience. The sea was alive with its natural beauty — waves rushing swiftly towards the shore, the clear blue sky stretching endlessly, and the warm sun shining upon us. What made this trip even more special was witnessing one of Sri Lanka’s most unique and traditional practices — stilt fishing.
What touched me most was realizing, through the joy on my children’s faces, how much happiness nature brings us when we spend time together as a family. While the kids played along the shoreline, I also noticed a group of foreign visitors arriving at the same spot. They seemed captivated by the sight of the fishermen skillfully balancing themselves on tall wooden stilts planted in the shallow waters.
Stilt fishing is an ancient tradition that requires both patience and balance. The fishermen climb onto the stilts and wait silently, in the hope of a good catch. It is by no means an easy task—strong waves and the physical strain of sitting perched on the poles for long hours make it quite challenging. Yet, this practice has been passed down through generations and is now recognized worldwide as a cultural symbol of coastal life in Sri Lanka.
The foreigners who joined us were equally amazed. They watched closely, took photographs, and even tried sitting on the poles to experience it for themselves. It was clear that they admired not only the beauty of the beach but also the traditional fishing methods that continue to attract visitors from all around the world. My children were curious as well, asking many questions about why the fishermen sit on those poles and how they manage to catch fish while balancing in such a way.
It was a day filled with joy, learning, and appreciation for our heritage. I felt grateful to share this moment with my children and to see others enjoying it as well. Experiences like this are worth remembering and sharing, for they remind us of the beauty of tradition, family, and the ocean that gives life to us all.

Have A nice day.

The place you visited was truly beautiful, the atmosphere looked very peaceful. I was distracted by the coconut tree in the third picture, it was very tall.
