Wednesday walk Spring around

Untitled.jpg

Hello, friends and community! Greetings! We are experiencing almost summer-like weather in spring, which is quite unusual for this time of year. Surprisingly, the weather has been lovely, without the usual cold winds, making it perfect for walks. We have been exploring the natural beauty of our town.

It’s definitely worth capturing the spring atmosphere with photos. The weather, lush green trees, the ocean, wild plants, flowers, birds, and animals—all of it is beautiful here. We wanted to take advantage of this fantastic weather, so we started our walk from the old military base, which is about 200 meters from our residence.

It was evening, and the sunshine was soft and pleasant. There was no crowd since it was a weekday. Typically, during the summer and weekends, this area is bustling with people.

to girls were climbing on the metal anchor, which is the symbol of this place was previously a naval shipyard.

Those nice sailboats were making the harbor quite busy.

On the other side of the water, on the rocks, the blockhouse looks very tiny, like a dollhouse.

Some wild flowers are in the blooming stage.

We started walking on the coastal path heading to Minnahallen, the Seamen's/Sailors' Memorial Hall.

The Sailors' Memorial Hall in Stavern serves as Norway's national memorial for the merchant marine sailors who lost their lives during the First and Second World Wars. In the crypt of the Memorial Hall, the names of approximately 8,000 deceased sailors are engraved on copper plates.

The hall is open to visitors from May 19 to August 31, daily from 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM. I have to wait one more week, next week I can see it in person. I will write about my experience next time.

The Minnahallen is shaped like a pyramid and built of concrete and stone. The shape that symbolizes both a burial chamber and a sea mark.

The tall metal door. Both sides of the entrance, two big cauldrons, and the walking platform around the pyramid offer a nice view of the surrounding area.

Some people like to take their breakfast with them and enjoy the morning sun while having breakfast.

20240519_193333.jpgThis natural cave is located near the Minneshallen. In summer time local music bands arrange some summer concerts there.

20240519_193338.jpgThe path goes to another small beach where lots of pebbles. I called it the pebbles beach.

Nothing was said about the heat. This is the same method that children should be taken to a place where there is more grass and a garden so that the heat is less there and the children can do whatever they want, because today in our city it is 45 to 50 temperature.
