Wednesday walk our town in Winter

Hello, friends, travelers, and fellow community members! I hope you are all doing well and enjoying quality time with your loved ones. Due to some issues with my 6-month-old computer, I have had to revert to using my old computer after making some small repairs. It’s slow and takes a long time to upload photos. However, this gave me the opportunity to go through my old photos, where I found some wonderful memories of winter in Norway.
Today, I wanted to share some memories from the beginning of winter. The photo above shows the open space in front of my clinic window. In the summertime, this area is used for a summer market. Typically, this is the back side of the building, but since COVID-19, I’ve been using the entrance from the backyard. My workplace is a large wooden building located in the center of town, surrounded by a lovely atmosphere. The town church is just around the corner, and the main road leads to the next town. In the distance, you can see the pyramid-shaped Seamen's Memorial Hall, Minnehallen.
I was walking from home to my workplace. It usually takes just 4-5 minutes to get to my workplace, but that day it took more than 30 minutes because I was enjoying the beauty of winter.

Between the historic wooden buildings is a big, open space, and along the building walls are some yew bushes holding the snow like it was flowers.

After I finished my work, I went back to the area and took a lovely photo of the church. It was almost 2:40 in the afternoon, but it felt like it was getting dark soon. This is typical of winter in Norway, where the days are very short, and there is very little sunlight with low light levels.

It was very nice, but -5 degrees is not fun to walk without gloves. Yes, when taking photos, I have to remove my gloves.

Opposite the church, our only gas station, and a pear tree.

I went around the building to the roadside and main entrance opposite Pumpeparken. Once the public water supply it is now a park for summer activities.

As usual, I have to go shopping to get some vegetables. I cross Skjektekanalen, where the traditional wooden boats are moored in summer, but here all but one are on dry dock along the other side of the canal. See the condition of the canal it is totally frozen.

All boats from locals have this place to store their boats during winter.

When I turned south, I saw that the sun was setting, coloring the sky in hues of gold and red.

Inland, the west side is a residential area.

The north west side also has some residential houses. Now they are lit up, reflecting the sinking sun.

To the north is our supermarket, and beyond that again seawater that is also frozen, but I wasn't going that far. I turned back from the supermarket because by that time I was freezing and needed to get inside a warm house.
Thank you for being with me for this nice, beautiful walk.

Awesome photos. I love especially the one of the church. Where is this? You speak here about winter in Norway...
Yes, it is the south-east of Norway. Our small, beautiful town.
