Wild Beauty: Himalayan Bayberry

_DSC0452.jpg

This is my submission for this week’s Qurator Photo Quest, themed Fruit.

These images feature kafal (Myrica esculenta), also known as Himalayan bayberry. This small, deep red wild fruit grows in the himalayan forests and is loved for its sweet and tangy taste. Beyond its delicious flavor, It is also valued for its medicinal properties and traditionally has been used to help with fever, digestion and throat problems.

A simple fruit, yet deeply connected to the hills and their memories.
