Makeup of the day - Purple and green

I wanted a makeup look that is simple but not 'too simple' that it won't show up on camera since I also wanted to record a gameplay after. When it comes to eyeshadows, I have different colors to choose from since I have collected a few palettes with different colors. I really like purple on my face and I find that it compliments my skin tone so I went with it.

I used this eyeshadow palette from a Chinese beauty brand Narimi. The palette is called Dead Wood and it has a really gorgeous color selection that matches the name of the palette well. I have a lot of ideas using this palette and this is one of them.

This purple and green combination really gives a unique look but not something that's overwhelming. Color theory is really fun to learn. There are still a lot of things about colors that surprise me lol.

I'm using my 50mm f/1 lens for this shoot. I normally use my 80mm macro lens so I don't have to change lenses when I'm shooting close up eyes shot and also cos the lens filters are only compatible with that. Comparing my portrait shots using 50mm and 80mm, I can clearly see the difference - hence, some prefer to use 50mm 'portrait' lens than other focal lengths.
Using 50mm makes my face slimmer somehow, maybe the most accurate if we compare it to real life (or what I see in the mirror at least lol).

An out-of-focus shot makes the shimmers stand out and show up more.

I used to do portrait shots with a 100mm because it seemed like the most 'real' in terms of the perspectives... but it also meant I had to stand quite a bit further back to get the shot - which wouldn't work in most rooms.
Your makeup and the lighting is so nice... but can I ask about the background? Is this something you do in post or is your background full of little reflective surfaces?
I haven't tried 100mm yet, do you use full frame or crop sensor? I have a crop so I can't really use 100mm indoors. That’s interesting!
The background is a fabric that has glitters and I don’t know what it’s called but anything with glitter should work. I have a direct light in front of me and behind me (directly facing the fabric) so it really makes them shine like that.
I had a full frame sensor, but this is all before I sold all my studio equipment and moved overseas, so it's been a while.
Oh, the background has it's own light source... that's so clever!
I've never tried a full frame but I can imagine it's so much better than using an aps-c indoors haha. Ah yeah that's the thing with moving overseas, gotta sacrifice some. T_T
I initially wanted to have a light for my back but I realized it would be better to just point it to the background for maximum sparks haha. :D
Glosy, simple but really noticeable. The color combination is really pretty. I also like the color you choose for a lipstick, and It's shining too, uwu. It blends really well with the whole look \(^o^)/
Wearing lip gloss really looks good but quite uncomfortable at times especially cos your hair sticks to it haha. The lipstick has a mauve color so it matches so well. Thank you! :D
Sober and not too excessive, violet is a good choice for a "relaxing" mood makeup
Agree :D
Wow, the purple and green combo looks stunning!
Yeah! It's a combo I've never thought would look good. :D
Same here!!
Hello 👋🏾 acidyo girlfriend I see you cash out a lot money acidyo sends you 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Purple has always been one of my all time fav colors. Especiallly midnight purple, this is pretty close to that. Looks really good!
How do you manage to pull off every color combo? I didn’t expect purple and green to go so well together but you make it look amaaaazing!! 😍
I think it's largely because they are in one palette, so they are already curated hahah. But yeah I study color theory as well for my art, but even so, I still get surprised when some color combos I didn't expect turn out good. :D
