Killin two birds with one stone

One of the things that I'm proud about is knowing how to do quite a lot of things. Among them that are related to creativity are photography, video making, video editing, painting, photomanipulation, makeup, story writing, and self portrait photography. Most of them were self taught and were my interests at one point.

There were times I have completely abandoned an interest just cos the dopamine ran out haha like photography for instance.

But, having those "phases" apparently are useful because the skills that I learned from those times are being used now to do my current interest - which is makeup. :D

Having skills to do makeup is one thing - but if you want to share the look as accurately as possible, you need to know how to capture them properly. Especially those glitters that have multi colors in them, which will look different in different angles and such... and I realized they take a lot of effort and knowledge to capture properly.

I have been experimenting with different camera settings and lighting and I am quite close to the result I want. It is indeed not easy to do... especially to know what works for you and your skin tone.

I need to be able to show the color of the makeup as close as possible to the ones I see with my eyes because maybe at some point I'd want to earn affiliates with them... so it's kinda like selling makeup, yeah.

Thankfully I know photography, editing, and video making when I started creating makeup content so a lot of those were easier for me to learn and adjust.

To be honest, at one point I thought those skills that I learned previously were nonsense. Or a waste, something I could never use. But dude. I regret thinking that way. Haha.

Having these skills saved me a ton of headaches and I get to enjoy focusing on learning makeup compared to if I didn't know photography and such.

Another thing that I like doing this makeup thing is that I am able to do these interests all at once.

Before I film the makeup tutorial, look, or whatever, I plan in my head what I want the final video to look like. Maybe a transition? Or maybe just a tutorial. So it's kinda like video-making that I used to do.

Then I also have to think what colors to use, sometimes I also sketch what the final look would be. And then comes the actual doing the makeup. Which is like painting. :D

And then I get to take photos of the final look - which of course uses my self photography skills. Knowing the angles that look good on me, facial expressions, lighting, etc.

And this reminds me of the good ol' days where I would be dramatic in front of the camera haha which I know some of you may have followed me or remembered me when I used to constantly post photographs. I know I've been wanting to do those again but just can't really "do it" but now I am getting used to doing it so I am not in that struggle anymore.

Anyway, just wanted to share these photographs and my thoughts about being a jack of all trades master of none but also a lot of times better than master of one or whatever that was. (I know I can just Google the right quote lol).

But yeah, I like photography. And doing makeup content allows me to do that without pressuring myself too much. And this is also somehow scratching that part of my brain that's itching for me to do it. So two birds with one stone.. :D
