Khaosan Road
When we go to Khaosan Road (Bangkok), I don't usually bring my camera with me because we're there to party and not to take pics lol. We went here quite a few times but I didn't really have much picture although this place really has a lot of interesting shit going on and would be really nice for street photography.
When we were on our way back to the hotel from Icon Siam, for some reason we dropped off at Khaosan Road even though the hotel was still a couple of blocks away. I guess we chose to drop off there and just walk instead of the car having to go around and be at the small-ass alleys on the way to the hotel.
Luckily I had my camera with me so I took a few pics.
When there's tourists, there's always tuktuks. They usually charge A LOT of money for such a short trip but they can be fun too so if you're willing to spend much for a bit of a fun then why not.
When we first came here back in 2022 when weed wasn't legal yet, if I remember correctly this place was empty. Or maybe there was something there but not much going on really. Now Khaosan road is FULL of weed lol every few steps there will be weed sellers, it's crazy. I even see some illegal shit lol but nobody bats an eye.
This place has become a nice spot if you wanna chill while being high as there are some live bands here that sing chill songs as well, if you wanna get away from the crazy party of the clubs beside for a while.
There are a lot of stuff here: food, temporary and permanent tattoos, weed, clothes, some random kids toys, invitations to "performances", etc etc. This street is all for party. If you're a tourist and it's your first time in Bangkok maybe this is not a good place to start having fun because you might get the wrong impression about the city lol. But a lot of young tourists are here (mostly backpackers) and that's mostly the main crowd so if you're into that then this might be perfect for you (compared to some areas of Bangkok like maybe Soi Cowboy or something).
I'm very awkward with street photography especially if there's a lot of people who will notice me with a camera pretty easily since I don't know how they'll react. I guess they should be used to it by now with the amount of bloggers and Youtubers around? But it's really just my anxiety speaking, there really wasn't an issue taking photos here lol. Although you can maybe just be a bit sensitive when it comes to taking photos specifically of people since this is a party area and some really just get fucked up drunk that you wouldn't want to humiliate them on the internet.
I've seen a couple of girls and guys who puked on the sidewalk, lay down near the bathroom, and one guy just literally laying down on the dirty pavement... so yeah. :P
"Where are you??"
"Here"
T_T
You can also see a lot of people (mostly tourists) wearing weed shirts lol.
Oh yeah I forgot to mention Khaosan Road has bars everywhere to the point you will hear different loud music playing all at the same time. There are bars like this, there are bars outside so you can dance at the side of the street, and there are also bars that have the "underground" kind of feels. There was this one bar where the door felt like cement wall??? And inside felt like a cave... and even though I can get a bit of anxiety being inside spaces that don't have windows, I was okay since well I was drunk and didn't care much lol.
Yeah nice marketing, someone would've really liked that lol.
There were some kind doggos around too and I feel kinda bad they had to hear the really loud music but I guess they're used to it but probably some hearing damage as well. :<
This was on the way to the hotel. Empty roads even though this was only maybe 10pm.
And back to the hotel with the smallest alleys. :p
Khaosan Road would be so much more fun now that weed is legal. I can't wait to go back to Thailand.
There were a LOT of street vendors selling the worst looking weed you could imagine, lol, I'd recommend getting it from the dispenceries instead.
lol, I wouldnt buy street weed anyways. That is too scary.
I can guess a big number of those tourists went to Thailand specifically for that. lol but yeah I think it's worth visiting again now. Although Phuket and some other destinations I heard became really expensive just cos covid is "gone".
That dog was always there I think, lol.
Yeah.. there's another one as well literally at the bar with loud music and the DJ lol.
Oh thought that was the same. xD
Oh, I heard someone talking about weeds in Thailand and now was a little bit surprised it was legal.
Now, I was thinking could it be too here in the Philippines? 🤔.
Same thought with street photography, I haven't tried since I am bit worried for people reaction. Might someone get mad.
I don't think that's gonna happen anytime soon, maybe not in the next 50 years or so as long as people vote for shitty leaders. They'd rather be busy with their war on drugs rather than seeking for treatments so nope lol.
Ah I agree, and oh, everything is chaos here 😂
I've honestly lost hope 🤣
Same,. actually feels like maling decision ko talaga sa buhay Ang manatili sa Philippines 🤣.
Anyways, have a good night.
This is a really cool post. It shows the night life of Bangkok, and the way you worked with the lighting is really nice. It's kind of funny that you mentioned weed a lot, and that is very popular there. If I'm not mistaken, are they still the only country in Asia that has legalized weed? That would explain the number of people there.
Thank you! The editing helped haha. Yeah it is so far. Other countries have them only for medical purposes as far as I know.
Reall nice pictures. I am sure you are glad that you took your camera :)
Thank you! Indeed I was :D
