A visit to Bangkok Art And Culture Centre

DSCF3425.jpg

As an artist, going to an art center or gallery is almost mandatory everytime I visit a new place. I went to Bangkok Art and Culture Centre when we visited Thailand in June 2023.

The first time we visited here didn't have a lot of exhibitions as I assume the world was just recovering from COVID and Thailand just open its borders. This time around, there are a lot of them and the scene is more vibrant.

One of the exhibits had an interactive art where it invites the audience to paint on canvas. I tried it for fun lol. Interactive art is always fun and engaging. :D

There were some fashion exhibits in the lobby and beside the big staircase. They were made by students from a university. :D

The designs are so cool and unique.

I love that a lot of the art exhibited here are contemporary. This one is pretty cool and the details are just amazing. I forgot what these were but I can guess the artist used pen and ink and oil.

This is very alien vibes.

There are exhibits there with old paintings as well. A lot of them were Thailand history.

This one is just really impressive. Back in art school, we also got to try this - sculpting a wood. You start from a big log of wood and just "subtract" it until you get the shape you want. It is extremely hard since you need the proper tools and the wood for it and of course you can't make "mistakes" as you can't just glue them back or make a new wood lol. It needs a lot of patience hence I didn't like the process. :P

The artist just nailed this one!

This one is also another sick sculpture. From the wood, flesh, to drapery... really amazing craftsmanship and concept. I'm an idiot and didn't look at the medium but I can guess this is epoxy which is also a hard medium to work on. :D

I love that this time there are a lot more exhibits than when I last visited. The place is really good for exhibits as it is located in the center, very easily accessible to everyone since they have the big malls beside it, and the architecture of this place is just very contemporary lol.

It was a fun visit.

Painting on canvas by audience would really be fun thing. Dresses designed by university students are looking unique and their design is no doubt admirable. I am astonished to see skeleton made with wood. That's interesting.

I visited another museum in Bangkok and the first sculpture we saw near the entrance was hanging plastic baskets, those you can use to store your laundry. I am not sure if this is the same museum near a train station.

So much diversity within a single place. Absolutely love it! And painting canvas in front of the others? Pure fantastic especially for someone as talented as you are 🤗
