Hola! Soy Minos, artista urbano peruano del barrio de Villa María del Triunfo, uno de los distritos más peligrosos de Lima. Después de experimentar cómo es la vida por aquí y perder amigos en el camino, descubrí que el arte, la música y el skate me mantuvieron a salvo de los “malos pasos” desde pequeño. Ahora que tengo 25 años, he decidido compartir estas pasiones con los demás y trabajar para mejorar el barrio que me vio crecer.

Hi! I'm Minos, a Peruvian urban artist from a neighborhood in Villa Maria del Triunfo, one of the most dangerous districts in Lima. After experiencing what life is like around here and losing friends along the way, I discovered that art, music and skateboarding kept me safe from "bad steps" since I was a kid. Now that I'm 25, I've decided to share these passions with others and work to improve the neighborhood I grew up in.

En cuanto a mi experiencia profesional, digamos que soy mil oficios. He trabajado en construcción, armado de muebles, venta de ropa, diseño, creación de contenido y marketing. Ahora estoy a puertas de terminar la carrera de diseño gráfico, en busca de trabajo freelance que me permita explorar distintos estilos.

As for my professional experience, let's just say I'm a jack of all trades. I've worked in construction, furniture assembly, clothing sales, design, content creation and marketing. Now I'm about to finish my degree in graphic design, looking for freelance work that allows me to explore different styles.

Minos x Arte: Descubrí el graffiti cuando tenía 13 años, crecí admirando artistas como Banksy y peruanos como Entes. Pasé del bombing en las calles a la serigrafía en polos y a diseños digitales urbanos. Ahora pinto muy rara vez en las calles (entenderán que es aquí es ilegal y mal visto). También me gusta pintar retratos y paisajes en óleo, nunca llevé clases de pintura, simplemente fluyo, así que tengo mi propia técnica jajaja. He pintado cuadros a pedido, he pintado cuadros durante madrugadas que me llenaba de inspiración, algunos los vendí, otros los tengo stock y otros los pinté para mí. Es algo que me hace muy feliz y puedo pasar horas investigando técnicas o tips para lograr replicar los detalles tal cual los imagino.

Minos x Art: I discovered graffiti when I was 13 years old, I grew up admiring artists like Banksy and Peruvians like Entes. I went from street bombing to silkscreen printing on polo shirts and urban digital designs. Now I rarely paint on the streets (you'll understand that it's illegal and frowned upon here). I also like to paint portraits and landscapes in oil, I never took painting classes, I just flow, so I have my own technique hahaha. I have painted paintings on demand, I have painted paintings during early mornings that filled me with inspiration, some I sold, others I have stock and others I painted for myself. It's something that makes me very happy and I can spend hours researching techniques or tips to replicate the details as I imagine them.

Minos x Música: Tengo letras escritas desde los 15 años, pero fue hace 2 años que gracias al graffiti coincidí con Spamk, un buen amigo beat maker y decidimos grabar algunas canciones para Youtube, nos sorprendió mucho que sin hacerle mucha publicidad, solo compartirlo en nuestro perfil, tuvimos unas 100 vistas en la plataforma y en Instagram un reel llegó a 1k. Me anima saber que a otras personas les gustan las letras que escribo o quizás logran identificarse con algunos versos. Encontré en el hip-hop una manera de desahogar a todas las voces que tengo en mi cabeza y contar un poco de mi vida a través de ella. Gracias al concurso Vibes de Hive es que estoy aquí, me animé a grabar videos, mejorar las canciones que tenía y grabar nuevas, es una experiencia bastante divertida.

Minos x Music: I have written lyrics since I was 15 years old, but it was 2 years ago that thanks to graffiti I coincided with Spamk, a good friend beat maker and we decided to record some songs for Youtube, we were very surprised that without much publicity, just sharing it on our profile, we had about 100 views on the platform and on Instagram a reel reached 1k. It encourages me to know that other people like the lyrics I write or maybe they can identify with some verses. I found in hip-hop a way to vent to all the voices I have in my head and tell a little bit of my life through it. Thanks to the Hive Vibes contest is that I'm here, I was encouraged to record videos, improve the songs I had and record new ones, it's quite a fun experience.

Minos x Skate: He pasado la mayor parte de mi tiempo libre montando skate desde que estoy en el colegio, aprendí cuando tenía 12 - 13 años. En 2019, junto a unos amigos, fundamos VMTSB; “Vive, Monta y Transmite Skateboarding”, un colectivo con la misión de romper con los estereotipos de los skaters, forjar e impulsar nuevos talentos para la federación peruana de skate, acercar a las nuevas generaciones al deporte y mantenerlos alejados de las pandillas. Siento que el apoyo a este deporte por parte del estado es mínimo y selectivo, a pesar de tener una institución, se requiere de altas inversiones en equipo para participar en concursos y lamentablemente son pocos los del barrio quienes han conseguido algún tipo de auspiciador. Por ese motivo es que comenzamos VMTSB, con el sueño es crear una escuela accesible para todos, dónde no solo se formen nuevos talentos, sino también darles todo el soporte necesario para llegar a concursos internacionales representando al país.

Minos x Skate: I've spent most of my free time riding skateboard since I was in high school, I learned when I was 12 - 13 years old. In 2019, together with some friends, we founded VMTSB; "Vive, Monta y Transmite Skateboarding", a collective with the mission to break the stereotypes of skateboarders, forge and promote new talents for the Peruvian skateboard federation, bring new generations closer to the sport and keep them away from gangs. I feel that the support for this sport by the state is minimal and selective, despite having an institution, it requires high investments in equipment to participate in competitions and unfortunately there are few in the neighborhood who have achieved some kind of sponsor. That is why we started VMTSB, with the dream of creating a school accessible to all, where not only form new talents, but also give them all the necessary support to reach international competitions representing the country.

Minos x Blockchain: Desde el 2022 @ayison me hablaba sobre blockchain y web3, pero no entendía nada, me parecían términos muy raros y que no había algo relacionado a lo que me gusta. Después de asistir a unos cuantos eventos descubrí el potencial de los NFTs, pero también lo veía como algo lejano. Hace poco después de tanta insistencia de @ayison me animé a participar en el concurso que menciono líneas arriba y fue tan grato sentir el apoyo de otras personas hacia mi arte que no he parado, no solo estoy creando música, sino también colaborando con algunas comunidades o participando en sus concursos con piezas gráficas. Ha pasado solo un mes y estoy emocionado de seguir aprendiendo y compartir las oportunidades de este ecosistema tan chévere. Gracias también a @audiarmisg por darme una masterclass introductoria sobre Hive, motivo por el cuál estoy comenzando con esta presentación y ya sé cómo interactuar mejor por aquí.

Minos x Blockchain: Since 2022 @ayison was talking to me about blockchain and web3, but I didn't understand anything, they seemed to me very strange terms and that there wasn't something related to what I like. After attending a few events I discovered the potential of NFTs, but I also saw it as something far away. Recently after so much insistence from @ayison I decided to participate in the contest I mentioned above and it was so nice to feel the support of other people towards my art that I have not stopped, I am not only creating music, but also collaborating with some communities or participating in their contests with graphic pieces. It's only been a month and I'm excited to keep learning and sharing the opportunities of this cool ecosystem. Thanks also to @audiarmisg for giving me an introductory masterclass about Hive, which is why I'm starting with this presentation and already know how to interact better around here.
