Let's take one moment

International Plant Appreciation Day! Shall we take a moment today to celebrate the beauty AND importance of plants in our lives? Let's face it, without plants we have no life. The oxygen we breathe every day has to come from somewhere. We cannot produce oxygen ourselves, we need the trees and plants around us for that. A study has been done, and it appears that we need about 30 trees per person for sufficient oxygen for our entire life. But we are not the only living beings on Earth. The earth itself needs oxygen and almost all living organisms on earth need oxygen to survive.

Then we have not yet talked about the nutrition we get from many trees and plants. We ourselves have already started growing pepper plants, bell peppers and tomato plants and we hope to include broccoli and green cabbage this year. It is still too early for the beans, but they will certainly come. And when I see all those plants grow, and can reap their fruits. Yes, then I know what I'm taking care of them for. What you get in return is more than the effort you put into growing them.

Live at another planet?

But how much I can enjoy looking around my own garden, that is sometimes a bit insignificant when I see how people interact with nature around us. I am concerned about the destruction of forests and other natural habitats by human activities. And I am concerned about the extinction of many animal species, but this concern has also existed for a long time for plants. And if it continues like this, then this is a threat to the whole earth. In that respect, it is not surprising that people are looking at whether life is possible outside the Earth. However, this is also another thing where I think, "Oh, so first you destroy everything, and then when the time comes, you leave to continue happily on another planet?". Not really useful as long as there is no awareness to use this globe sparingly.

Now is the time

Now more than ever, it is critical that we all do our part to take care of this planet, whether that means reducing our carbon footprint, supporting conservation efforts or simply taking the time to appreciate the natural world. around us to appreciate and respect. If we do not start now, we will soon have no future generations, because then life on earth will no longer be possible.

What world will your kids have if we don't act now?

Today on this International Plant Appreciation Day is therefore a good day to reflect on the beauty of plants. The meaning that plants have, it's quite simple, earth is providing us with everything we need to survive. And we all bear the responsibility to maintain this. If we don't start with that now, in what world will your kids have to live? How do they live without plants? Think about that for a second!
