Had many of those buildings in my city, most of them derelict now, after they were last time used before 1989.

Which city is that? It's a tragedy that so many beautiful ones with such rich history end up ignored. I saw it in Armenia too. So many of them could be turned into museums. Or repurposed in some other way.
