Wednesday Walk Challenge : Réserve Faunique Papineau Labelle (Canada)

As promised in my first post for FungiFriday, I'm going to show you a very small part of the Papineau-Labelle Wildlife Reserve, a very large park, 1,628 km2 straddling the Laurentian and Outaouais regions of Quebec. I spent two nights at the Lac Joinville lakeside campground. A beautiful natural setting.

Here's a map to help you locate the Papineau Labelle Wildlife Reserve. The park is about a 3-hour drive from Montreal with the last few kilometers on a dirt road. Better not have forgotten something 😀.

Ruisseau Noir

DSC06010.JPG

As we arrived a little late on the first evening, our first walk around the area only took place on Saturday morning, when we went to discover the Ruisseau Noir (Black Creek) not far from the campsite. This little stream lives up to its name because of the dark color of its water, due to the earth and the shade of the trees that surround it.

However, it widens a little before joining Lake Joinville, with its tall green grasses, water lilies and pretty purple flowers.

Just before the Ruisseau Noir gets bigger 🔼 and gives way to a bit more greenery. If anyone knows the name of the purple flower, feel free to leave a comment.

Lac Joinville

DSC06021.JPG

On the second day, we woke up to a light rain, but nothing too bad. The view over Lake Joinville was grey. Fortunately, the sun came out in the afternoon to enjoy the little beach and the warm lake water. I spent a lovely day away from it all (no internet).

Next to the beach, in the grass, there were quite a few frogs, not too shy. Especially one in the last photo, this frog must have been tame because I was able to stroke it between the eyes. And when I left, it followed me for a few meters... Maybe I should have kissed it... Who knows 😀

A little frog with his tadpole tail still on 🔼. And the tame frog 🔽.

On the last morning, the sun was out, but it was pretty cold for July. So it was an early wake-up call, and I was able to see the mist rising over the lake. It was a beautiful sight, especially with a hot cup of coffee in my hands.

I hope you enjoyed this Wednesday Walk Challenge in the Wildlife Reserve Papineau Labelle. This place deserves to stay more than 3 nights to discover all its attractions. Definitely next year...

The Wildlife Reserve Papineau Labelle is such a joy to view. I mean the waters, rocks, green vegetation and creatures. You did a great job capturing them and sharing. Thanks for that. I think I may have seen the purple flower somewhere but I'm not so sure. Have a great day.

A very pretty spot with this lake, perfect for swimming in summer... I'm glad your trip home ended well despite the delays. Have a good rest at home (but does a bee, even little, need rest? 😄).
