Wednesday Walk Challenge : Park Lafontaine, Montreal
For this Wednesday Walk Challenge organized by @tattoodjay, I propose another walk in Parc Lafontaine, 5 days after the two snowstorms that hit Montreal. In less than a week, more than 75 cm of snow fell downtown, a frist since 1898 😲 (source: meteomedia.com - only in French). Last Friday, with a beautiful blue sky, it was very pleasant to walk in the snowy park.
I've been telling you about Montreal's Parc Lafontaine for a while now, more information and history on this park on my post Wednesday Walk challenge: Parc Lafontaine (Montreal).

It's really beautiful when the snow is still all white. In this photo 🔼, you really don't see that here in the summer, there's an artificial lake with a fountain at its center (although it's been several years since I've seen its water jet working).
A few cattails indicate the presence of the lake. Their yellow color stands out against the white background, very nice. Last Friday's temperatures weren't so cold, making it a nice place to take a walk and clear the head after a hard week's work.
Everything is more beautiful when it's covered in snow, like the Théâtre de Verdure or the Allée Royale. Don't you think?
Despite the snow, there were some brave souls out jogging. The path around the park was well cleared, better than the surrounding streets. On Monday, I think only a third of Montreal's streets had been cleared of snow. It's not easy to clear 75cm of snow quickly. But since yesterday, daytime temperatures have risen above 0 degrees. It's melted quite a bit.
And so much the better, because there were still beautiful piles of snow all over the streets, perfect for the kids. In this alley 🔽, the snow was starting to cover the first floor windows. Impressive, it's the first time I've seen so much snow in the city. As I don't have a car, I enjoyed it. But I think it would be different if I'd had to clear my car several times from a snow bank 😀.
I hope you've enjoyed this #WednesdayWalk with me and discovered a little more about Montreal in winter, a great time to explore the city. Happy Wednesday Walk Challenge to all!

Lovely walk, those cattails do stand out against the white of the snow.
Hahaha so much like here. The piles of snow are tall… very tall.
Last days it was all defrosting here, the next days more positive temperatures during daytime.
Could be exciting… maybe our winter doesn’t last until May/ June this year. But I don’t want to jinx it. So I won't say anything hahaha anything can happen.
Have a great day 😊
I hope it doesn't last until May... At the end of March, it's enough for me to make a few more ski trips and enjoy the snow. But really, it's more a question of lack of sunshine, fortunately the days are getting longer. Yeah... 😀
Have a lovely day too
Yes, I know what you mean. The darkness is sooooo long.
Here it is stretching out too now. Sadly the weather has been bad and it is grey and misty for a week now.
Thanks, you too 😊

Yep here too, we only had one day with blue skies and sunshine. And back to gray but also cold, I prefer snow to rain, especially in winter.
Enjoy youor weekend
Me too… I sooo prefer snow over rain.
Will do, you do the same. Enjoy!

Snow fall is always beautiful on that first sunny day after the storm 🙂 My trip to Boston was almost a winter trip to the sun. It was 50F haha
The sun didn't stay out for long, so we had to make the most of it. Because it quickly turned grey with a few snowflakes yesterday.
Have a great weekend
