Wednesday Walk : Val Morin & Mont Tremblant, Quebec

For this new #WednesdayWalk hosted by @tattoodjay, I'm sharing a tour I took during my ski trip to Mont Blanc at the beginning of March. The last day was gray and quite rainy, not ideal for hitting the slopes. So I decided to explore the area, visiting a brewery in Val Morin and then making a detour to the Mont Tremblant ski resort to try another brewery. I don't know if I've mentioned it before, but I do enjoy a beer now and then 😀.

Pour ce nouveau #WednesdayWalk organisé par @tattoodjay, je vous propose une petite balade que j'ai faite lors de mon séjour de ski à Mont Blanc au début du mois de mars. La dernière journée a été grise et assez pluvieux, pas idéale pour descendre quelques pistes en ski. Alors j'ai décidé de visiter un peu la région, une brasserie à Val Morin puis un détour par la station de ski du Mont Tremblant pour essayer une autre brasserie. Je ne sais pas si je vous l'avais dit même j'aime bien une petite bière de temps en temps 😀.

The first stop was in Val Morin, a small village very close to Saint Agathe des Monts in the Laurentians... then afterwards, route 117 took me to the Mont Tremblant ski resort.

Le premier arrêt s'est fait à Val Morin, un petit village tout près de Saint Agathe des Monts dans les Laurentides... puis après, la route 117 m'a mené vers la station de ski de Mont Tremblant.

Looking at a map of the region, I came across the microbrewery Ayawan in the village of Val Morin. For more information about them, you can check out BeerSaturday 455 with their pale ale Monde de Fées. Leaving the brewery, despite the gray skies, I saw the Rivière du Nord winding through the village, its colors beautifully enhanced by the melting snow.

En regardant la carte de la région, je suis tombé sur la microbrasserie Ayawan dans le village de Val Morin. Pour plus d'information à son sujet vous pouvez allez voir BeerSaturday 455 avec la présentation de leur pale ale Monde de Fées. En sortant de la brasserie, malgré la grisaille de la journée, la rivière du Nord qui serpentent au milieu du village avec de jolies couleurs avec la fonte des neige.

Since the rain was light, I was able to take a short walk around the village, which at this time of year doesn't offer much besides the brewery. But with the Petit Train du Nord, a railway line about a hundred kilometers long, it's perfect for cycling in the summer and cross-country skiing in the winter.

Comme la pluie était légère, j'ai pu me promener un peu dans le village qui a cette époque de l'année n'offre pas grand chose à part la brasserie. Mais avec le Petit Train du Nord, un chemin long d'une centaine de kilomètres, c'est parfait pour faire du vélo en été et du ski de fond en hiver.

The terrace at Ayawan must be very inviting on sunny days after enjoying the surrounding nature. There must be walks to be had along the riverbank, as there were several colorful birdhouses in various places, perhaps for birds or as part of an artistic initiative.

La terrasse de Ayawan doit être bien accueillante aux beaux jours après avoir profité de la nature environnante. Il doit avoir des balades à faire au bord de la rivière car à plusieurs endroits il y avait des nichoirs colorés peut-être pour les oiseaux ou une initiative artistique.

As the rain intensified, we decided to head to Mont Tremblant to grab a bite to eat and enjoy the activities there. With the ski resort, it's much more lively. / FR : Comme la pluie tombait plus fort, nous avons décidé d'aller sur Mont Tremblant pour manger un bout et profiter des animations sur place. Avec la station de ski, c'est plus animé.

Mont Tremblant

When I arrived in Mont Tremblant, a rather dreary atmosphere greeted us, a rather unpleasant mix of rain and snow. I decided to eat at the La Diable brewery, located in the heart of the resort. The beers are decent and the food is good for the price. The other "affordable" restaurants aren't anything special.

A mon arrivée à Mont Tremblant, c'était une sorte de grisaille qui nous attendait, un mélange de pluie et de neige pas très agréable. J'ai décidé d'aller manger à la brasserie La Diable, installée au coeur de la station. Les bières sont pas mauvaises et la nourriture est bonne pour le prix. Les autres restaurants abordables ne sont pas superbes.

When I left, the weather hadn't improved at all. But with a full stomach, I had enough strength to face the elements 😀. I left the main street to head towards Lake Tremblant, which was thawing. You can see the ski slopes behind that dead tree.

En sortant, il n'y avait aucune amélioration au niveau de la météo. Mais le ventre plein, j'avais assez de force pour affronter les éléments 😀. Je suis sorti de la rue principale pour aller vers le Lac Tremblant qui était en train de dégeler. On peut voir les pistes de ski derrière cet arbre mort.

On the lake shore is the Saint Bernard Chapel. It must be a popular spot for weddings in the spring and summer, given its location. The church was built around 1941 entirely of wood. Next to it is an ice rink. There were quite a few puddles.

Au bord du lac, il y a la Chapelle Saint-Bernard. Cela doit être prisé au printemps et été pour les mariages vu l'emplacement. L'église a été construite vers 1941 tout en bois. A côté, il y a une patinoire. Il y avait pas mal de flaques d'eau.

The region offers plenty of attractions to keep you busy even on a cold, rainy day. I prefer it when the weather is nice, either in winter for skiing or in summer for enjoying beautiful walks in the surrounding parks.

La région offre beaucoup d'attractions même pour s'occuper par une froide journée de pluie. Je préfère quand il fait beau soit en hiver pour descendre quelques pentes de ski ou en été pour profiter des belles balades dans les Parcs aux alentours.
