CREATIVE WAYS OF ADJUSTING AN OLD DRESS TO SUIT CONTEMPORARY TASTE

Most of us have clothes that we don't get tired of wearing no matter the amount of clothes we have in our closet. Other times we just want to refurbish old clothes to suit our contemporary style of dressing. So, recently I had to attend a funeral service and I was thinking of what to wear as it is a mourning period. Then as a tailor, I decided to recreate one of my black and gold dress which was previously a long dress to a short dress with gathers at the half length.

So from the picture above, this was the first style I made back in 2020,i used it for a wedding ceremony and it was all stylish and chic for the occasion. I think it was a cold season too, thats why I settled for the long dress and long sleeves.

This year 2023,i changed the style to something suiting and comfortable for any occasion at all, be it work, school, church or anything you can think of.

This is the end result of what I came up with. It reduced from a length of 60' to a length of 42'. In the making all I had to do was pin the dress carefully and cut out the extra length, thus, it was the extra length I gather and used to achieve the result on the half length of the dress.

I am so glad to have length this tailoring work and also inheriting it from my mother was a big deal, I get to adjust, amend and remake whatever comes my way that doesn't suit my style.
