Wednesday Walk: Interesting things can be found just around the corner

Greetings from North West, South Africa!

It has been too long since I have been able to get out for a walk, and even though I am unable to walk much or far, due to an annoying knee injury.

Still wanting to get out and go for a walk, it being Wednesday and all, I decided to stay close to home, going for a short walk (weird limp in my case) just around the corner. Luckily the immediate area around my house is quite nice and I often find interesting things. Today did not disappoint!

I had not even left my backyard when, by chance I spotted movement on a nearby Mexican Palm tree (another perk of living in North West!)

I snuck closer to inspect, and found this strange little guy.

Clearly, it was going to make me work hard to get a good shot as my camera was having serious difficulty focusing. Probably due to the little guy's amazing camouflage abilities.

I was finally able to get a good shot of what I suspect might be some sort of praying mantis and was finally able to get on with my walk.

6.jpg

Clearly today was my day for finding strange insects. This spider looks to be just a little bit smaller than my hand, sort of resembles the Australian Golden Orb Weaver, but I am not too sure.

7.jpg

I wandered a little bit further, just enjoying the view, seeing what else I could find.

8.jpg

Unfortunately I had to start heading back soon after as my knee was beginning to act up again.

On the way back, I was surprised to notice how beautiful the area is, when you take a moment to really look around and notice.

Upon returning home, my beautiful boy Jenga was patiently waiting for me to return home.

So there it is, a little bit shorter and less interesting than the usual hikes, but a pleasant little walk nonetheless!

Hope you enjoyed walking and exploring with me today! Till next time, don't forget to look around the corner every now and again, you might be surprised at what you'll find!

@hellsveiah, there seems to be a lot of exotic wildlife in your area. And your cat is very similar to my cat Tom. I wish you to heal your knee quickly.

@irvet, You're right! We have lots of interesting animals and plants here, due to the hot climate. Your cat must be beautiful too then 😀 Thank you!

yes, my cat is red, and quite arrogant)) however, unlike your cat, these are not very fun times for Tom - a snowy winter

I agree! We just need to calm and centre our minds, leave our troubles behind, and absorb the moment when walking.
I was looking forward to going out today, but I got preoccupied with some household tasks. It's greta to see these photos and the cat made me smile.
Have a great Wednesday!

It is actually the first time I've seen something like that, always discovering new and strange insects and plants around here. This part of the country can be quite interesting!
