Cute dog my friend. i think you are right we do need to train our senses.
When i was training to be a chef we use to have to do blind taste tests and guess the ingredients in dishes so we could train our taste buds.

I'm not sure that cooking food blindly, relying only on smell and taste, is something that will attract many customers to a restaurant, but as a pastime for cooks it could be fun :)
