I'm currently in my hometown in preparations for my little sisters wedding which comes up at the end of the month and coincidentally I arrived to witness the Echane festival.

The Echane festival is a masquerade festival celebrated every year in my town. Each community in every local government within the town gets a week to celebrate the festival.
So you can enjoy the scenery and have fun for a week and still go to another area to see their masquerades.

Masquerades are believed to be ancestral spirits who've come to stay with us for awhile on Earth before returning back to the spirit realm.
Although there are many masquerade festivals in my town, this particular one according to the name ECHANE is a festival to celebrate the women in the community even though women are not usually a part of most masquerading activities.

I was able to witness the last day celebration happening in my own area. It's quite obvious from the images that I'm scared of being on the receiving end of their long canes.
I was able to get a few good pictures from afar. But Immediately my friends invited some of them closer, I disappeared and left my cousin to take the other close pictures displayed.
