Melbourne, a town of street art - Part 15

Melbourne, Australia is a city that likes to define itself by it's street art

You can't spend anytime outside without encountering an artists view of the world.

Today we start in a laneway in the north of the CBD - this used to be a dead end alley, which not surprisingly attracted a lot of art, but they have redeveloped the building behind it, and decided to make a little pedestrain laneway to go between the streets. I imagine the streetart is one of the reasons, in their mind this will be a tourist attraction, it will add to the creditability of Melbourne as one of the great street art cities of the world.

Some of this work has been in for years - like this paste up of Eddie Mabo (famous for the 'Mabo' decision) which is the legal precedent for much of the Aboriginal Australian's land right claims.) I can't imagine it won't be pasted over with so pop culture reference once this becomes an instagrammable spot.

I wonder how all of this will interact with each other.

But I left this alleyway turned hopefully tourist attraction behind and moved into the Melbourne CBD proper, to pick up the last few shoots of today - The first is classic Melbourne, street art and empty beer kegs waiting to be picked up.

And then back to the paste-up - this is something joyous about this one, which is newsish and from a artist called Robbo-T - Who of course has a instagram account and hangs out in those cool alleyways.

This is also him, but also others - this is my type of mix ups
