Lego build part 2 - Revealed it's a cat
A Tuxedo cat in particular, A Lego ideas set (21349), which increasingly is becoming the best line of sets, particularly if you are bored with building cars or licensed Disney properties.
I didn't know much about this set and then I stumbled upon in and decided it was something that I need, I mean I kinda want a real cat, but also I kinda know that's not practical so this is the next best thing. And then I looked a some reviews and worked out it was a great build.
You see there aren't many Lego sets which are figures, living things, large scale animals and they way they are built is completely different. This build is essentially 17 microbuilds, which you then stick together on a frame.
That's why early days - covered in yesterday's post. You are really just building the frame on which everything will eventually hang, they use almost all of the ways that Lego joins together, a heap of technic rods, but also hinges, and connections that allow for the angles you need for a cat.
This is a great example of that, the white is the Cats back legs, and then the frame is what the body will attach to
This is where you start getting an idea of how this is going to roll, this is his back
His sides and large tummy.
this first of the big circles which are a cats back legs if he is sitting upright:
This is the sort of weird joins they use to get the angles you need, this is his should type area:
Then it starts getting real creepy, after the should it put on and his front you do the legs, and then you have a weird headless cat sitting on your table:
Then the head, the head is a masterpiece in itself, much like the body, it starts with a frame, which some suggestions of the potentially odd ways some things might be attached, the ears are eventually going to go into those dark grey horns.
And the face shape is really starting to come together, the decisions here are to build it mouth closed for open and if he should have blue or yellow eyes.
Come back tomorrow for the full reveal of the finished product.
I didn't see that coming. I was going to say some sort of crane on caterpillar tracks but I would have been wrong in so many ways.
I was actually thinking that it looked a little like that earlier days, so or some steampunk/medieval crossover thing. But no, just the back legs of a cat and some a frame to build the rest off.
