Customising my Lego Land Rover Defender

This is my Lego Land Rover, for those playing at home it's Lego set 42110 - a Defender. If you are really familiar with this set you'll know this isn't the full set, it's missing so roof racks, boxes and whatnot. I had built this a few months ago as a 'City' version, and to show my partner how cool a defender could look in real life.

For some reason a thought popped into my head a couple of days ago - what if I put bigger more offroad wheels on the Lego Defender? I mean I have some bigger wheels, six of them in fact in the Volvo Dump Truck, which is dissembled at the moment, but is a fantastic set, I though it would give it a more aggressive look

So one they went, and it looked cool, or at least I thought so, but this I was like, why would someone have yellow wheels on a 'normal' Land Rover I mean surely you would have some other yellow highlights, so what if I took so other yellow bits from the Volvo and did some changes to the Landrover. Well then you have this....

Now I have to say, changing colours in lego is not a easy as it looks, I had to rebuild the entire roof, and the parts are not the same, it's not simply swapping white for yellow, I had to get it close enough to fit with the pieces I had.

And this the pinstripes on the doors, easy enough, the ones across the front, much harder, you quickly realise you have to take off about 30 pieces to get so something that looks like it's close.

And then it was time to put the roof rails back on and the side box and roof box, these were (mainly) from the Land Rover set, but of course in the rebuild roof the holes for attached it aren't quite in the right places so more modifying was required.

All up the changes took maybe an hour, but I think it was worthwhile, a new version of the Land Rover to look at for the next few months before I get bored and change it to something else, and a interesting challenge.
