Wednesday walk, the historical Harbor of Hoorn.
Hello Wednesday walkers,
I have some leftover Wednesday walk pictures for you that I took during the pod-walk in the city of Hoorn in the Netherlands. The pod-walk is a unguided tour trough the historical city of Hoorn.
When you go to the West Frisian museum you can get a QR-code that you can scan with your telephone. Then you download an app and the app will guide you trough the whole city. The app tells you all about the buildings that you pass and the functions that building had in the past. Some story's go back 400 years.
The city of Hoorn is a city full of history. Buildings like this one that were build in the 17th century.
Puddle gram power. Alway's nice to have a reflection picture. Here I am shooting the shooter.
The historical harbor of the city of Hoorn. Many battle ships, colonizer and trading ships left this port to conquered the world and steal all there spices.
This is the Hoofdtoren, which stands proudly at the entrance of the harbor of Hoorn. It's a round brick tower and it's building in the year 1532. Later in the year 1652 they build the clock tower on top of it. It functioned as a protection tower and a gateway to the harbor. It's one of the most iconic buildings in the city.
At the end of the docks you have a nice view over the entire Markermeer lake.
It is a nice place to take yur familie for a walk.
So cool that at the end this small yellow sailing boat came back in to the harbor. It's a real eye catcher.
And in the end we came a cross a church. It was a quick in and out because we were tiered.

That buildings are pretty cute and the clock tower is a great piece of architecture... Very nice the reflection shot of the shooter!
I like that composition to. I need to react quicker, its nit really sharo 😅
I love the idea of pod-walk and the app that tells the history of buildings interactively as it’s something that combines walking and learning all at once.
Its a very good idea. You can make one for everything and every place
Great walk. It is so nice to see cities like this from the locals, Netherlands, that is :)
Even most of the "locals" have never been in Hoorn 😅
I realise many churches in Europe have many well decorated or painted ceilings! Amazing how they do it.
They threw a lit of money in those buildings 😅
