A storehouse transfered to hotel!

Building "Het Arsenaal" (The Arsenal) in the city of Delft has a very rich history and housed many different company's at the same time! from the beginning of the year 1600, it was serve as a warehouse and ammunition storage for the defense of the city!

But there was there is still room for other facilities like A guard house, a smithy and later an oil smokehouse had there company's there! Over the years they keep adding sections and demolishing others to for fill the demand in the city!

In the year 19589 the building housed the national army museum of the Netherlands! But they got to big for the building and they moved to a new building in the town of Soesterberg, near the military airport! There they could show more planes!

After they moved in 2013 the building was transformed to different kinds of hospitality industry!
Like a restaurant, an exhibition space and the hotel where we were aloud to shoot some nice pictures!

I am starting with the most interesting picture! This is a table in the restaurant, with a view over the canals of the city of Delft! I took this picture because of the door! That is an original door that was put in place in the year 1600! It's so hard to imagine what this door has been trough! How many people opened and closed it! And what kind of people handed the door! I think that is mined blowing that there was a soldier in the year 1600 that was pushing the door instead of pulling it! 😂

Next we go up by elevator or by the stairs! These stairs are very old, but they don't know for sure if they are as old as the building it self! The second floor are the rooms and soem spaces were you can have meetings!

And to take some more pictures of the interior and exterior! I totally forgot to take pictures of the whole outer building! This because there were cars in the way and in the evening we went to shoot the city of delft by night! but that's for next time!

Hi @haastrecht, what an interesting history this building has, more than 400 years is a lot to tell; the interior decoration is very nice, especially the use of wood that adds elegance and warmth to the building.

Greetings!
