Where the story began to feel real. /Donde la historia empezó a sentirse real.[ENG] [ESP]

Así comenzó el siguiente capítulo…

As I told you in the previous post, this day came full of emotions that I didn't know exactly how to explain. After that first approach to my roots, came something even more special: knowing part of my family that I had never seen. And it all started in Felton... with a dawn that already seemed to warn that this was not going to be just any day.

Walking around here is feeling a different rhythm with a characteristic landscape. On the coastal edge, mangrobe formations and other halophile plant communities are recorded; inland, shruff and anthropic pastures predominate. The pines that are seen are not a unique type "own" of the place, the pines there are rather sown by man.

Among the trees, what used to be a polyclinic, today almost hidden. Deteriorated by the passage of time and the abandonment of man.
This place was the old social circle, where there was music, encounters and life.

Felton is not even half of what he came to do in his time, a place that before was full of people, of movement, of life... It went out and what hurts the most is that you can still feel the footprints.
And in the midst of all that, one of the most important moments of the trip arrived.

Meeting my aunts for the first time, something I had been waiting for years.
There was no distance.
There was no discomfort.
It was as if we already knew each other.
As if time doesn't matter when there's something stronger that connects everything.
But that day I still had something else saved.
No hubo distancia.
No hubo incomodidad.
It is a rural community belonging to the municipality of Mayarí, it is near Felton. Although it is not a tourist or famous place, Vuelta Larga is important because it represents the real life of many Cuban peoples, especially that of my father.

On my tour I could see simple details, but that make the place even more special, the flowers and the elderberry (a fruit that my dad ate as a child, and that I was seeing for the first time).

This store was very famous in its time, one of those that keep stories. The store where they could go to get what they needed for the family and those in charge of going were the little ones, which for them was the most fun.

This way you entered my dad's house. The house is no longer there. Nothing is left built. But even so, being there was enough.
No queda nada construido. Pero aun así, estar ahí fue suficiente.

My cousin took me to see the Long Return Bridge. I really wanted to see it, I listened to my dad's stories and I was excited just thinking that such a structure was real.

This bridge has something that impresses since you see it. But from above it feels completely different.

The rusty color indicates aged steel without recent maintenance.

Years ago, boats passed through here, the water is surprisingly deep. From above you can even see large fish, moving quietly in the water.

But what marked me the most is being there... looking at him... walking him... it was like entering a part of his life that I had never lived.

This day was undoubtedly one of the best. I didn't want to go, the heart is where the soul feels at peace and that feeling can't be explained. Have you ever been to a place that doesn't mean much to others, but to you is everything?
In the next post everything changes, less history, more nature, another rhythm. Thank you for joining me in this chapter, a very tight greeting!!
