This time it was up to me to be the model. Super rare to be in front of the camera yet I could totally associate with the concept and message.

So much fun!

In some of the "The Umbrella Academy" posters, Klaus Hargreeves is shown with a message written on his hand that says "Goodbye." This scene I think refers to a moment in which Klaus is preparing to leave his physical body behind and communicate with the dead. Klaus has the ability to possess others and communicate with the spirits of the dead, and it is possible that he wrote the message on his hand as a goodbye to the living world before entering into a spiritual realm.

Who plays No.4?

No. 4 Klaus Hargreeves, also known as Number Four or by his superhero alter-ego The Séance

Klaus Hargreeves, also known as Number Four or The Séance, has a complicated relationship with death in "The Umbrella Academy." Klaus has the ability to communicate with the dead, which has given him a unique perspective on life and death. He uses his powers to cope with his own pain and trauma, often relying on spirits for comfort and support. However, his powers also bring him into conflict with the living, as he often becomes consumed by his interactions with the dead and neglects his responsibilities to the living. Throughout the series, Klaus grapples with his relationship with death and the consequences of his abilities, leading to both personal growth and continued struggles.

We started just down the road with a quick light test and then tried to recreate the main scene with the hand toward the camera. I wrote into my hand the "Good Bye" Slogan and held the umbrella sideways behind me.

At times blinded by the light:

At least the focus is right.

After a few runs and 15min later, we got two Light Paintings done, that got the message across!
The photos themselves took 43 and 46 seconds to light paint respectively at ISO 100. This is not a super long exposure nor a super fancy light painting. We just loved to get something with a message. It is of course up to you what you make of it. For me, the year 2023 is starting fresh and I am certainly leaving behind some of the heavy stuff. The magic of new beginnings I guess.

We used my camera and the 12mm LAOWA lens. This way it was easy to keep everything in focus more or less. Sylvia was then lighting me up in two simple steps. Front (my face and the coat) and back (light the umbrella and the edges of the coat) and done.

Not much left to say here I guess. But to say thank you Sylvia aka @syllymudafknross it's been so much fun to play!
