Magic Rocks - Fiber Optic Light Painting Eggs - Part II.
Alien Egg Hatchery, Bisti Badlands, New Mexico
Second round of Eggs .. not round but hey
It has been a while since I shared some of the Images I created when visiting the Alien Egg Hatchery at the Bisti Badlands. Yes, there was the video and when you had a very close look you may have seen what I share today as featured images. In this post, I want to highlight individual eggs that I found worth being featured with some extra features like a Black Fiber Optic Brush.
Location, Location, Location
It does not get much more outer-worldly than this. You do want to see it in full daylight and at night. Waiting for the Sun to set is part of what makes the experience so complete, seeing the light change it all. I started to get there early and set up the camera and run around to find the most interesting shapes. To get enough time I grabbed all my stuff and started walking some 2-3 hours before the sun set.
As you can see there are many "Alien eggs" lying around so I had to choose some to feature. Selecting some was a tough task because pretty much all of them have some interesting features. Makes me think I should spend a week there and shoot all of them.
Simplicity rocks.
To get started I always give it a simplistic lighting. That by itself looks pretty cool already. So this is a simple 17-second exposure adding light to the foreground and letting the blue hour show up.
Bring some Life into it - Add some Light Features and Effects
Many of you know already I just love the black fiber optic brush because it provides that random effect feature and makes all effects unique.
The Light Painting you see here is a single 50-second exposure time photograph. The camera was always set to ISO 100 and the Laowa Zero D F2.8 Lens to a very high F-Stop like F8. Here I wanted to keep some of the blue hour background. I was using a flashlight I lit up the Egg and then the fiber optic brush.
My super sophisticated Set Up
Here you see the behind-the-scenes setup foto. Surprising is the size of these. These are not that big.
Hier sehen Sie das Behind-the-Scenes Setup-Foto. Überraschend ist die Größe dieser. Diese sind nicht so groß.
Same principle for the other eggs.
Gleiches Prinzip für die anderen Eier.
The plain shot & With the Black Fiber Optic Brush add some extra feature
What were the settings for this one ??
The main shot is a 66-second long exposure Light Painting with some fiber brush light effect. The camera was set to ISO 100 and the Laowa 12mm Zero D F2.8 Lens to F8.
Das Light Painting mit schnellen 66s Belichtungszeit. Die Kamera war auf ISO 100 und das Laowa 12mm Zero D F2.8 Objektiv auf F8.
Egg Hatchery, Bisti Badlands, New Mexico
The shapes you find are just "outer-worldly". Ready to be amazed?
Since these cool alien eggs are laying all around so nicely it could have been so nice to get more of these shots and make it a series. Have a look at this landscape. I will plan more time next time around.

I hope you found these images inspirational. If you have more questions please do not hesitate. I am happy to share my knowledge.
If you think this is Spam, why did you read this far, and why the fuck bother you? Move on from your self-righteous mind state and bury yourself. Don't bother about what others may find interesting. Just stay in your bubble and ...
Cheer Up Guys!

The area is very mysterious, and you added a SF effect....
I walked through a beautiful landscape...
I like it better when you lit the rocks... @gunnarheilmann 🙂
First time I hear about Alien eggs rocks..any story about them or that area?
Glad you like my interpretation 😎
I guess people make up some stories here. Not far from this is also an Alien Throne. More to explore I guess.
🥰
I believe more research is needed...🙂
