Bubble Galore

Light Painting experiments with frozen Soap Bubble

To many, this is not exactly a challenge. Well, think twice. In the area of global warming and ever-increasing temperatures .. Ok yes I stop. Anyhow, I wanted to do that for many years and also I thought of this being a topic that's lame and way too simple to even give it a shot. Well, every time you do try something and you don't exactly stick to the rules expect something different. That was my approach here. Just going to freestyle and yes it does look different.

This shot was inspired by @candelart. Since temperatures in Berlin dropped way below freezing I thought I give it shot. No point in doing exactly what Ralf's last post was about. Ye I did want to get the cool pattern of the Ice freezing. But I did not think I have to stick with the instruction. Well, it was very different from what I expected but have a look at my results.

After the shooting I asked some other Light Painters in our chat group what the impact of the glycerin is. Apparently, there is a correlation. This means if temperatures are still low I can give it another run and get different results.

So here it goes. See my first round of Light Painting a Soap Bubble.

The 98%.

Almost closed Bubble

Creating Shapes with the movement of the flashlight. Little wave pattern on the ice.

The Setup

This really just happened outside on my balcony. Nothing fancy in the forest or city. Too lazy and cold to really leave the house.

Really just on the table on a glass.

First Shot

Here you see the first test shot waiting for the bubble to freeze over. Focusing is a small challenge when using a Macro lens. There is a bit too little depth of field for my taste. Maybe next time I going to use my 70-200mm lens that should work better.

Ok let's freeze over.

It took a while but hey that started to look cool.

Since I was using the Macro I thought I do wanna get close. Wow!

Wow!

Not the most exciting pattern from the ice forming. But hey that's what we have the lights for. Using a blue and orange flashlight gave me some cool violet mix in some areas. Love that effect.

Sehr cool.

How?

Oh yes, I still owe you how it's really done right. You can go to Ralf's post to see how he did it. He just described it all. Thank you @candelart !

Almost Merry Christmas

I think these photos get you in the mood for the season. Just a few days left. No worries I also have no gifts just yet.

I hope you found these images inspirational. If you have more questions please do not hesitate to ask. I am happy to share my knowledge.

If you think this is Spam, why did you read this far and why the fuck bother you? Move on from your self-righteous mind state and bury yourself. Don't bother about what others may find interesting. Just stay in your bubble and ...

All there is left to say is Cheer Up and Merry Christmas!

Gemütlich auf dem kalten Balkon. 🥶 Schön beleuchtet die Dinger. Gefällt mir. Rotation? 🤔Könnte man vielleicht auch?

Love these! The colours are wild. It looks like a crystal ball into another world.

It just doesn't get cold enough here to freeze them. I hope you do more.
