[ENG/ESP] Wednesday Walk Around Lima's Main Square / Caminada de Miércoles por la Plaza de Armas de Lima
Hey how are you? today I will take you for a walk through the historic dowtonw of Lima City in Peru, specifically to the Plaza de Arma. I've been living in this city for about 5 years and since I arrived I found it very particular, because it is located in a desert on the coast of Peru and most of the year the weather is more or less cold and gray and I come from a Caribbean country with lots of vegetation and a climate that is hot half of the year and the other half are months of heavy rain.
Hey que tal? hoy los llevare a pasear por el centro histórico de la Ciudad de Lima en Perú, específicamente a la Plaza de Arma. Hace alrededor de 5 años que estoy viviendo en esta ciudad y desde que llegue me pareció muy particular, pues se encuentra en un desierto de la costa del Perú y la mayor parte del año el clima es mas o menos frio y gris y pues yo vengo de un país caribeño con mucha vegetación y un clima que es caluroso la mitad del año y la otra mitad son meses de mucha lluvia.
The historic dowtown of Lima is a heritage of Peru and Unesco, has a very beautiful architecture that retains the essence of its past viceregal era.
El centro histórico de Lima es patrimonio del Perú y de la Unesco, tiene una arquitectura muy bonita que conserva esa esencia de su pasada época virreinal.
In the main square is the Government Palace, which also has a very nice design almost like a royal palace.
En la plaza de armas se encuentra el Palacio de Gobierno que también tiene un diseño muy bonito casi como un palacio real.
Here you can see the Archbishop's Palace and next to it the imposing cathedral where the Museum of Religious Art is located.
Acá pueden ver el Palacio Arzobispal y al costado la imponente catedral donde funciona el Museo de Arte Religioso.
This is the headquarters of the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima, as you can see these buildings have very interesting balconies and is one of the most striking things of the old houses of the historic dowtown.
Esta es la sede de la Municipalidad Metropolitana de Lima, como pueden ver este estos edificios tienen unos balcones bien interesantes y es una de las cosas mas llamativas de las casonas antiguas del centro histórico.
It is very common to see groups of tourists walking around the square taking pictures and knowing the most representative places of this area and also many Peruvians come for a walk, it is a good place to stroll and take a walk, currently there are several streets that are remodeling to limit the traffic of vehicles and give more space to pedestrians, I think it's a great idea, I think cities should give priority to pedestrians instead of cars.
En muy común ver grupos de turistas caminando por los alrededores de la plaza tomándose fotos y conociendo los lugares mas representativos de esta zona y también muchos peruanos vienen a pasear, es un buen sitio para pasear y darse un vuelta, actualmente hay varias calles que están remodelación para limitar el transito de vehículos y darle mas espacio a los peatones, me parece que es un idea genial, pienso que las ciudades deben dar prioridad a los peatones en vez de los automóviles.
