A Stroll Through Skopje, Macedonia ๐Ÿšถ Outskirts of Central Park ๐ŸŒฒ

Howdy folks. ๐Ÿ‘‹ Recently, I had some errands to run (I know, shocker) and found myself knee-deep in Skopje's central park. Now, this is no NY Central Park - it pales in comparison really - but the journey itself contains enough interesting scenery that I think it's worthy of a post.

Small Preface: I will probably do another post more focussed on the park itself. Maybe once Spring blooms and the sun starts shining.

The goal of this walk was to get some medical prescriptions for me moms. The park just happened to be in the way and we'll be cutting diagonally through it.

And so, it's time to head down and see how crowded the park is - Onwards! ๐Ÿšถ

๐Ÿ”ท OUTSKIRTS ๐Ÿ”ถ

Before we get to the park we need to descend these long ass stairs leading to a polygon (the car kind). ๐Ÿš—

I remember when I was younger these stairs seemed like they went up a mountain. I would traverse them every weekend with my mom when we went to the amusement park. The now abandoned amusement park (more on that later). They are still long, don't get me wrong, but much more doable than my childish mind envisioned. ๐Ÿ˜…

The polygon (I hope that's how you say it in English...) is old and is no longer used for official license exams. People still use it to hone their driving skills, as well as for parking.

And once we cross the bridge over to the other side we will officially be in park territory. Before we enter the park proper, however, we need to take a gander at all the other side activities you could be doing. ๐ŸŽพ

The sports stadium you see in the background is the biggest in the country. It goes to all big events, both sporting and otherwise. We will have a closer look at it shortly.

๐Ÿ”ท AMUSEMENT ๐Ÿ”ถ

To the side here is the once famed (and only) amusement park in the city. It has long since fallen in disrepair, with numerous officials claiming they will rebuild it. None of these promises have ever come to fruition, however, as you can see. Although there is a current attempt at a rebuild. Let's see if it pans out. ๐Ÿคž

Since the stadium is nearby there are lots of sports-related activities to be found. โšฝ Like several pitches for smaller-scale football games. These pitches are connected with restaurants and one is even connected to a nightclub. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ Go figure.

The biggest tennis club in the country is also present here. It hosts lots of pitches where you can play tennis at your leisure.

The stadium itself is closed off to the public (duhh) but I bet you can use your imagination. It's your standard football stadium. ๐Ÿ˜

Right to the side there's a pub where a lot of the people taking walks in the park come to rest. And just opposite said pub there are lots of attractions for kids. Seeing as how it's the end of winter, these are all inactive. And as such, looks like they've been broken down. ๐Ÿ˜… Rest assured, by summer they all get fixed up and ready for the kiddies.

We are done now with the attractions and the outskirts and all that other $#!@. It is time to enter the park! ๐Ÿฅณ

๐Ÿ”ท THE PARK ๐Ÿ”ถ

Before we enter the park we have to take a look at the pond! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I admit it! These are not the best pictures of the pond. I did a bad job and I ask forgiveness from the photo gods. But I promise to shoot better pictures when I do the Park post proper.

Since I am in fact for sure gonna make a dedicated post to the city park, I won't go into much detail on it here. I'll just dump the photos on ya'll like an unborn stepchild. wait what ๐Ÿ˜จ

The Park walk won't be anytime soon, as I have other strolls to share with you all first. But rest assured it will happen! ๐Ÿ’ฏ

Not sure where we'll go next week, but I reckon I'll find something interesting.

Obligatory shout-out to the ๐Ÿ•PIZZA๐Ÿ• gang, ๐Ÿค™ gang. ๐Ÿค™
