Novi Sad. Serbia June 22

avatar

Novi Sad, "new garden", founded in 1694, now the second largest city in Serbia, population just under 250k. Sits on a gentle bend of the mighty Danube River. Totally underwhelming.

_DSC4484.jpeg

I am currently standing on the battlements of the Petrovaradin fortress looking back at the city, from whence I have ambled on the promise of investigating some of the "10 miles of hallways deep under the fortress, which lead to ancient dungeons, which have housed many infamous people from Karadorde, a renegade rebel leader of ancient times to Tito, former despot leader of Yugoslavia".

It was closed.

Fucking bollocks.

Time to amble back

I shall now attempt to bring the place to life with my snaps.

Crossing back over the Danube, admiring the beauty of the sparkling blue waters, or maybe not, maybe it is just Blue in Vienna?

LOVE IS A SHORT WORD, IT CONTAINS EVERYTHING:
IT MEANS BODY, SOUL, LIFE, WHOLE BEING.

_DSC4481.jpeg

If I return in another life I am going to open a padlock shop somewhere.

_DSC4477.jpeg

We are going to turn right when we get of the bridge, lets see the backstreets

_DSC4482.jpeg

_DSC4502.jpeg

Faded memories: of medals won, shame I got the foliage sharp instead! Schoolboy error.

_DSC4503.jpeg

Faded posters: "nobody loves you", does anyone love politicians?
Pigs with their snouts in the trough.

_DSC4494.jpeg

At least the postman has an easy job round here

_DSC4466.jpeg

_DSC4469.jpeg

Some lovely old advertising murals

Reflecting on drab gorgeous Communist era architecture

_DSC4506.jpeg

I was drawn through a market place, quiet very quiet,

I didn't stop.

_DSC4470.jpeg

I stopped

and gazed here, one of my all time favourite and most inspirational artists in all her glory. I just love everything about Frida Kahlo. Truly one of the greatest persons to have ever lived.

_DSC4507.jpeg

A clever mural

_DSC4475.jpeg

_DSC4476.jpeg

Lots of little courtyards off the main street

_DSC4471.jpeg

One hell of a guard dog....Woof!

_DSC4473.jpeg

The EXIT festival is now in its 20th year, this year featuring, amongst others

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Calvin Harris, James Arthur, Iggy Azalea together with a whole bunch of individuals I have never heard of. And those I have heard of churn out shite!

Novi Sad is the 2022 European capital of culture. More money wasted by the quango of the socialist republic of europe. I mean ffs, who needs a capital of culture? I guess the non elected officials of the eu get to travel the republic of europe on "fact finding" missions soaking up freebies and brown envelopes.

The remaining snaps from my little stroll I shall be calling Sad Art and uploading soon into the Street Art Community. A great community overseen by @heroldius and @digi-me

Come and check it out. cheers

Omg you are hilarious.

Fucking bollocks.

And how dare you say Nick Cave turns out shite, blasphemer, or did I read that wrong?

Loved the mural with the woman cycling, it really showed the size and your photography is SO sharp!

What is it wasting money placing padlocks everywhere? We use these to keep people out not successfully either, arrive with bolt cutters!

No underground explore for you, so many tunnels and paths under your feet you know nothing about, rats and cats paradise !LOLZ

Mural must be one of the best to see, very realistic throwback in time.

Nice clean area to walk, with good golden nectar to end off the day spent walking...

What a cool walk around. So much to see… I like little alleys and courtyards. One can find interesting things…
Yep, I agree on Frida Kahlo. 😎 The large one is very clever.
