Jadran - a three-mast topsail schooner with history
Yesterday while I was strolling around the Tivat Marina my attention was caught by this old three-mast sailing ship. I got curious about this vessel so I looked it up and I was not disappointed. It turned out to be a ship with quite some history. The Jadran was built in 1930 in Hamburg/Germany for the Yugoslav Royal Navy and served mostly for naval training. After Yugoslavia was invaded by the Axis powers Italians captured the the Jadran and renamed it to Marco Polo. Then during the Italian capitulation in 1943 the ship was captured by the Germans. Looted and dilapidated at the end of the war, she was returned to Yugoslavia in 1946 and rebuilt. After Montenegro became independent 2006 the Jadran became a ship of the Montenegrin Navy. Today Jadran's ownership remains disputed between Montenegro and Croatia.

Unfortunately I didn't have a camera at hand so I had to use my phone to take these pictures.
It could be said that the ship was in
Nazihands. The ship, simple as it may seem, has a lot of history and important.
Something you don't see every day
Phone camera is better than no camera XD
I love sailing ships, just find something really charming about them.
That one did have a bit going on for it didn't it O_O
When I lived in Stockholm I never researched about the ships in the harbor. For a time I worked in a nightclub by the harbor. Some similar ships were anchored there, many of them were residences. Since you were talking Navy, one of them was a former Swedish mine sweeper. It, and the freight sail ship next to it belonged to a physician. There were some colorful 'Hippie' ships there in those days (mid sixties).
I searched, but could not find anything like that - maybe that was a bygone time. The area was near downtown, in Södermalm.
But here is a similar ship - they are still used for Navy training.
But in Canada, Victoria, BC, there are lots of houseboats and converted ships for residences. My photos from 2009 VICTORIA FISHERMAN'S WHARF
