Flatbed Scanner Macro Magic - Part 2: lapis lazuli

Today, I zoomed in on a polished lapis lazuli stone to capture its intricate details. Using my Epson Perfection V750 scanner, I scanned it at a high resolution of 4800 DPI. The stone measures approximately 75 mm across, and this scan focuses on an ultra-close section roughly 4 × 6 mm in size.

This setup reveals the stone's mesmerizing microstructure: the deep, vibrant blue matrix of lazurite, scattered golden flecks of pyrite (often called "fool's gold") and delicate white patches of calcite.
